where to donate formula?

I was lucky enough to get a bunch of free full size samples of formula but since I'm BF I don't need them. Does anyone know who takes those as donations? A lot of places I've tried won't take food items even though they are unopened. I don't want to throw them away, it seems like such a waste.

Re: where to donate formula?

  • Take the to a women's shelter in your area.

  • Or a local food bank if you have one.

  • Most schools do a food drive during November. Do you have any friends with school aged kids?

  • I tried a women's shelter but they wouldn't take them, I'll have to see if I can find a food bank. I just moved to a new state so I don't have a lot of friends here, I'll have to keep asking around!
  • There are lots of formula feeding moms on here. Maybe one will take it and you could mail... (They pay for shipping) not sure if that's expensive Orr not but worst a try?
  • I donated mine to a women's shelter. They were really grateful. Maybe try a different women's shelter? Thanks!
  • It's all different types of formula so I don't think it'd be worth the cost of shipping unless you wanted to try several different ones. I'm going to try a different women's shelter if I can't find a food bank, the one I normally donate to only takes clothes and household items. Thanks for the tips!
  • Okay I understand! Just a heads up most food banks don't accept formula! From volunteering at them we are instructed to throw all formula away!
  • Good to know! I feel bad wasting it so I'll keep looking for a woman's shelter that will take it. Thank you!
  • If you can't find a women's shelter I'm sure your pediatrician might take them to
  • Check Facebook for an online yardage page in your area and offer them there.
