1st Trimester

Sex

My first pregnancy was a mess of doctor-ordered abstinence due to a cyst and preterm labor ... this time around i'm really hoping to get sex in before i'm told I have to stop (if I do), but i'm super nervous because it was so rare the first time. My libido is up (surprisingly) at 4 weeks. Would love to have my fears eased ...is any type of bleeding normal this early on? Any tips for being comfortable and not paranoid?

Re: Sex

  • Your cervix is sensitive. Bleeding is common but not necessarily normal. I don't know how to advise you about how to be comfortable. Sex, for me, during pregnancy is almost always uncomfortable.

All I can say is lube up & stop if it hurts.

  • I don't really have any pointers. Make sure everything is wet so there is no pain. My libido hasn't really been up since I've been so tired, but we have been having regular sex. *TMI* I've found that it feels AMAZING when pregnant. It felt good before, but wow.*END TMI*

Good luck to you. Just take it slow and easy and if something hurts, stop and try something else. If it's uncomfortable then stop. :)

  • Yep only advice I've got is lube it up and get on top- you be in control of what's happening so you can make sure you're comfy! And communication! Talk about what's cool and not cool now, the rules have probably changed and will continue to change throughout pregnancy. If you're having bleeding I'd call the doctor's office and at least describe what's going on to a nurse or someone on call to see what they say. If you get the green light, just do it your way! I'm sure all the DHs know beggers can't be choosers when we're pregnant LOL. Good luck!
  • I had a little bleeding one time, a couple of drops. But I will second that I find the "feelings" very intense during pregnancy. I would just make sure you are excited...I actually found the MS left during the time period, and returned immediately, but was happy to have a respite.

With your history, just try and take it easy.

  • I'm 7wks today & we had sex last night, I was on top & I guess got a little carried away & had some pink discharge. Called doc & she said its because the cervix is more vascular then normal & not to worry if I didn't cramp or it stopped. We were so scared. So I kept monitoring it after I would use the bathroom & it was totally gone. Next time I think we're gonna have to take it easy :/
