Hooray for small victories!

I did a search but honestly wasn't sure what to search so sorry if there's already several of these but...

My son, after 5 months of working with him, FINALLY drinks from a sippy cup! I've never been more excited about anything in my life! He's 11 months and I was getting worried for a minute. I found those awesome spoutless cups...the ones that are like regular cups but spill proof...and he loves it and successfully uses it! Ah! I'm just so excited!

Anyone else have any small victories to celebrate?

One of my biggest pet peeves is when people say "good" instead of "well". Drives. Me. Crazy.

This morning my 2.5 yo DD was telling me how she does something very well. Such a proud mom moment!!

I was reading a book to my son and there was a picture of Thomas the Tank Engine with a sad look on his face. My son says "Mama, Thomas looks sad." I said, "Why do you think he is sad?" and he said "Because he doesn't feel Really Useful" My main parenting goal is to raise empathetic and compassionate little humans and this just made my heart swell. I said "If you were Thomas's friend, what would you do or say to him?" He thought a moment and then threw his arms around the book with a smile and said "It's ok, Thomas. I feel sad sometimes too. But you are still my friend and I think you are Really Useful." Yes, I cried. And no, I am not crying now...you're crying...just have something in my eye...  (

@laurenmdrn16 That's sweet!! Every time DD sees someone said she asks why they're sad. I usually respond with "I don't know sweetie, why do you think they're sad?" And every time she says "because they miss their mommy!!" It's amazing how they can pick up on emotions so young, and hearing her reasoning is always fun!

DS is getting really good at cleaning up after himself. While I was cooking, he got out a bunch of spoons and pots to play with. I told him dinner was almost ready and he put everything back. He has started putting DH's random socks in the dirty laundry basket too. I'm really glad that he likes to help so much.

My DD's favorite book is The Napping House. We read to her several times a day from different books. This week she has randomly started reciting The Napping House from memory (she's 2) and I know it sounds silly but it's made me so excited.

@jessiedee13 my girl just mastered that cup as well! It's so awesome when you see their little wheels turning and then bingo!

My daughter took her flu shot like a champ today. She kind of fussed for a second but didn't ever cry or try to escape. I'm so grateful that shots aren't a huge battle right now, even if it's just a temporary thing.

@Jenly17 my oldest just did it on his own...he stole his cousins cup and just drank out of it, so when my youngest wasn't doing it I was freaked out! But Thank heavens for those cups! Such a perfect lifesaver!
