Jug O' Pee

So after my first appointment yesterday I voiced some concern about preeclampsia- I was induced with my first pregnancy at 39 weeks for preeclampsia. However, when the blood work came back after I gave birth it turned out that I did not have preeclampsia and was therefore induced for no reason. So now I have to pee in this big plastic jug for the next 24 hours, bring it to the lab tomorrow and have it tested to get a baseline on my protein levels. And lemme tell ya ladies, pee reeks; and this is disgusting.

So if I want to leave the house I have to bring my pee jug with me. I guess this post probably belongs in a pity party post, but I'm posting anyway for pee jug solidarity. So if any of you other ladies are enduring the nastiness of storing your urine for twenty four hours- cheers, I lift my jug to you!

I got mine 3 weeks ago and still haven't done it because there's never a good time! They did say I can keep it in the refrigerator until I take it in. I guess that means I could do it over a weekend when I'm going to be home. But gross, pee in the refrigerator. I only had high BP the last week with my first.

Can I just say @WinniethePoohsPants that the title of this thread intrigued me. "Jug o' pee" has a nice ring to it. I have not had to do this, and I hope that I don't ever have to, but you go on with your bad self girl. Fill that jug up and be proud.

I had to do this a few years ago when I had kidney stones and they couldn't figure out why. The day I was collecting it, I felt like I was under house arrest and whenever I left, I had to rush home to catch my pee (that jug wasn't going to Target with me). I raise my jug to you @WinniethePoohsPants!

I have to fill the Jug-o-Pee for a baseline as well! I picked a day I can just stay home all day so I wouldn't have to lug the jug around. Good luck to you!

I feel like I would need to meal plan and time carefully when I would do this.

Definitely avoid the asparagus.

YES. Decorating would be amazing. Then you have to tell us about the looks on the lab techs' faces when you deliver your golden specimen.

I had to do the pee jug 3 different times when my urologist was trying to figure out why I literally always have a bunch of small stones visible on x-ray/CT. Every time I'd send it off the lab would do something wrong or the doctor would have forgotten to tell them to test for something. So I kept having to redo it. It was just so weirdly gross having a giant pee jug hanging out in my refrigerator. And I also felt like I was under house arrest for those 24 hours.

Even refrigerating that thing it still smelled unpleasant.

I totally feel your pain on the jug o'pee. At least it will be over and done in 24 hours!

I had to do this with DS. Nothing like walking into the OB's office with a big old jug of pee sloshing around.

Well, I did have to fill my own stool sample vials (6!) when I was being tested for parasites.

Ew. Sounds disgusting. Sorry you have to do that. Pregnancy brought out all the nasty things that I never knew existed.

My SIL had to do this when we were visiting (overnight, for like 10 days) and she was so embarrassed, as she's pretty shy/modest. BIL warned us how embarrassed she was about it so we didn't laugh at her as she shamelessly carried her sloshing jug-o-pee to the toilet and make jokes about it residing in the fridge. It sounds like you have an awesome jug-o-pee attitude. Good luck and good aim to you, my friend.

That stinks!! Make sure you write the start date and time and end date and time or you'll have to redo it. I mean big letters, mama!!! I speak from experience, unfortunately.
