Pumping help

My LO is now 3 weeks old and I have been just breastfeeding I am now trying to pump to have some extra on hand. I have a lot of dental problems I need to take care of and she will need milk. I just pumped both breasts and only got 3 oz? Does that sound right ? I kept pumping till nothing else was flowing out. It just doesnt seem like much . How much do you typically get when you pump?

Continue to pump every 2-3 hours. Pumping is different than BFing, so it will take work to get more out. It will more than likely increase as long as your consistent. Pump for a bit longer after you are out to increase the demand.
  • I pump once sometimes twice a day right after I feed LO. Last night I was able to get 3 total ounces and tonight I was able to get 4 oz. I generally pump for about 10-15 minutes but haven't ran dry and I'm still able to feed 2-3 hours and LO goes for about 15-20 minutes. I kind of feel like a dairy cow but really want to build up stock, I'm just glad I can. My biggest struggle is how much to store in each bag, I don't want to waste any.
