FYI its long sorry

On Friday 10/23 I decided to do anything physical I could to get labor started. I took my two youngest for a long walk to a park and then back home. It was a total of an hour walking and a half hour siting in the middle. Then when I was resting at home I sat in a modified squat position to try and help lower baby knowing he was still high. I had less BH throughout the day than what I normally was having but baby was more active than he had been the days prior. So got home and we did the deed. Up until that point I would contract every few minutes for about a half hour after having sex so I expected that but didn't expect it to turn into anything. I was up for about a half hour or so with contractions and finally fell asleep between 930 and 10pm. I woke up four times between 10 and 1255am from painful contractions. Finally at 1255am I got up to go to the bathroom and realized the contractions were quite close and more uncomfortable than they had been prior. I decide to eat a bowl of cereal knowing if I didn't and it was the real deal I wouldn't be able to eat until after the baby was born. While trying to eat I had 3 contractions in 5 minutes and told SO that it was the real deal and at some point we'd be making our way to the hospital. We made the call to our sitter so that she could come so when we were ready to go to the hospital we could just go in. At 3am I called the doctor to get their opinion on if I should go in or not being that contractions were 2-3 minutes apart lasting 30-45 seconds each but were only a pain level of 5 or 6. They said to go in being that my second labor was only 3.5 hours. We arrived about 345/4am and by 5am I was admitted at 4cm and 40% or so. For two hours I labored on the birthing ball but contractions didn't change. At 7am the doctor came in and given that I told her that I wanted to labor unmedicated she said about breaking my water and starting pitocin. I agreed to breaking my water but told her I didn't want pitocin. She agreed and said that if I didn't progress by 9 we would talk pitocin to help contractions do something. She was so straightforward while listening to my opinion and wants and helping me achieve what I wanted. At that point I was still 4cm and about 50%. Again I labored on the birthing ball and just rocked during every contraction. They definitely got more intense after they broke my water. The contractions were clustering and would come three back to back and then give me a few minute break. By 915 contractions were quite intense and I was starting to moan through them instead of just breathing. The doctor came in and checked me and I was a stretchy 6cm and 90% and doctor was happy with my progress. She felt for the way the baby was facing and while doing that she was stretching me to help me out. I went into the shower after this and labored with the water beating on my back for an hour and a half. It was probably the most relaxing part of my labor. I would recommend that to anyone! At one point the nurse came in to listen to the baby's heartbeat and check on me and I told her I felt ok, just wished the shower was hotter lol. Just a couple minutes later my SO came in to check on me again and I suddenly felt intense pain. I told him to get the nurse and I wanted the nubain shot right then. Looking back I'm positive I suddenly hit transition at that moment. But gah it was so intense. I was literally talking myself through the pain. She came in and gave me the shot and told me it may make me drowsy but it should help take the pain and put it in the back of my mind but it doesn't actually take the pain away. It did help me focus on relaxing a little bit. Thats when I went back to the bed and things suddenly sped up. My nurse went on her break not expecting anything to happen in the next half hour and my mom went to get coffee and update my dad in the cafeteria. I turned to relax facing my SO and I was suddenly shaking all over my body during a contraction. The second contraction that happened with I yelled I have to push and I have to push right now! He sprung to action paging the nurse and calling my mom to get back now. Within a minute there were nurses and doctors filling my room. I almost gave birth laying on my side because I just couldn't move without pushing more than my body already was. When I was able to roll to my back baby was crowning and everyone was shocked. Little did I know at that moment the doctor actually pushed him back in slightly to stop him from tearing me like crazy. I pushed like no other, during a contraction and in between because I just couldn't stop. He came quickly and even showered the doctors with water as he came out (they even jumped because no one was expecting it and my doctor had to fully shower after). They said they set up the delivery table with the instruments at 1129 and Damien Marcus was born at 1131am weighing 7lbs and measuring at 20inches. No tears at all even though I swore he tore me because of the pain I felt, I even kept saying it hurts during delivery. We got to enjoy immediate skin to skin and delayed clamping and IMO it worked wonderfully. He had a great color right away, was very alert watching everything as soon as he was on my chest. This was my longest labor out of three but the easiest to handle and I felt so much more in control than I ever did before.

If you made it through this thanks for reading :-) I've enjoyed reading everyones birth stories
