Zoe Spelling and Middle Name?

Hi!

We are expecting a girl in March. I've come up with a huge list of names that have all been rejected by my husband - except for Zoe. He hasn't come up with ANY names, so for now it looks like we will be going with Zoe. I just found out he thought it would be spelled Zoey. I was thinking Zoe. What do you ladies think is the best way to spell it?

Also, suggestions for middle name?

I like Zoe Elise so far - our last name starts with a G and is two syllables. Any other ideas?

Thanks!

Re: Zoe Spelling and Middle Name?

  • I would stick with Zoe.

Zoe Elise is fine, though it does run together a bit.

    Zoe Adele
    Zoe Fiona
    Zoe Corinne
    Zoe Irene
    Zoe Catherine
    Zoe Olivia
    Zoe Vanessa
    Zoe Margot
  • Zoe.

  • I wouldn't side eye Zoey, but I prefer Zoe.

I think Zoe Elise sounds fine. Other ideas..

    Zoe Elizabeth
    Zoe Claire
    Zoe Caroline
    Zoe Annabelle
    Zoe Elena
    Zoe Isabelle
    Zoe Juliette

  • If he wants zoey that's fine.
  • There is no alternate. The only correct way to spell it is Zoe. I think Zoe Elise is a lovely name.

  • Zoe - to me is both for a child and an adult
Zoey - Someone that is under the age of five for life, and their parents tried to be "cutesy" with the spelling

  • Definitely Zoe. Zoe Elise isn't terrible, but the e sounds kind of run together. Suggest: Zoe Catherine, Charlotte, Celeste, Genevieve.
  • Zoe 100%.  Zoey reminds me of Joey, doesn't look as nice, and the "y" is completely unnecessary.  Zoe is beautiful.

    Middle name ideas:

    Zoe Adeline
    Zoe Athena
    Zoe Charlotte
    Zoe Corinne
    Zoe Grace
    Zoe Lena
    Zoe Lillian
    Zoe Madeleine
    Zoe Mara
    Zoe Rena
    Zoe Samantha
    Zoe Samuela
    Zoe Vanessa

  • Zoe would be like Joe. Zoey or Zoë the dot symbols signifies that you need to pronounce the "e"
  • zoe has only one spelling
  • I actually think either spelling is fine. Both are fairly well recognized as the same name. Although one is the "technical" right spelling, the other is not a weird unique spelling that is hard to figure out. I do think that Zoe needs the dots if you really want to get technical. I love Zoe Elise. Elise was one of our top girl names.
  • I have seen it spelled Zoie which I like but not sure what is actually the proper spelling.
  • We are naming our girl Zoe and having the hardest time agreeing on a middle name! :(

Our original choice of spelling was Zoey (well my husband wanted Zooey lol) and I realized she would forever look like a child so we decided on the proper spelling Zoe. Just something to think about.

I sort of feel like this might be the French spelling but I could be wrong.  As one poster previously said, Zoe Elise seems to run into itself a little bit.  What about Zoe Leigh?

  • Zoe is the most correct spelling but Zoey doesn't bother me. I hate the Zooey variant.
  • Zoe, most definitely.

    Stacey for a middle name?

I have no idea what made me suggest that..
  • Please spell it Zoe. Every time I see Zoey I think the parents were trying to be cutesy/trendy.

  • I have only ever seen the three letter spelling as Zoë... but I am in Europe and that may be the influence of the germanic and Nordic

This and also Zoé - that was the first spelling of Zoe i'd ever seen. It was pronounced "Zo-eh"
  • Zoë --- love it this way! I would consider going with a single syllable middle name like Claire or Grace like a PP said. If you like Elise, then go for it! It is a lovely name.
