So just wondering when people normally go in for their first appointment. I found out super early and I don't know if I should wait a few weeks to go in or just make an appointment now.
Generally you won't actually see a doctor until you're 8 weeks unless there are complications (bleeding, previous mc, etc). But I've always gone ahead and set up the appointment in advance. Some doctors offices tend to be pretty busy and have to book a little bit out anyways. Congratulations!

I called my doctor the morning I found out, last Friday. They will be seeing me November 17. I would rather call now so that they can put in you in the books rather than waiting to call and possibly having to wait to be seen even later.
Married: August 2012
TTC #1: July 2015
BFP 1: October 30, 2015; EDD: July 6, 2016- Team Pink
I called right when i got my positive test, but i knew they wouldn't see me until i hit 8 weeks. I wanted the apointment on the books, and also i figured they would need a record of the pregnancy if i was to have complications before 8 weeks and needed to come in.
If you're seeing a doctor who isn't the person you go to for your annual exam, they might want you to come in earlier for paperwork.
Is it normal for them not to see you before 12 weeks?!
Yes. I went in at 8 weeks because i needed a dating scan (should have mentioned that earlier). My cycles were irregular. I was temping so i knew exactly when i ovulated, but apparently my doctor wanted to see it for herself. I measured about 3 days ahead of when i'd be due based on my ovulation date (which was still 2.5 weeks later than what it would have been if we went by LMP), so that's how they set my due date.
12 weeks isn't odd, especially if you have a previous relationship with your doctor and are low risk.
I'm with Kaiser and they want me in between 7 and 9 weeks. Call now so you can get your dirt pick of appointment times. They also sent me paperwork to fill out and stuff to read, so better sooner than later.
I went for my first appointment 10 weeks I'm glad I had the patience to wait because the baby already formed the heart beat was perfect,if you have bleeding I would say go if, not just wait a little longer,it would be so worth it to get your first ultrasound picture!Goodluck
Yesterday was my 1st appointment. I'm 6 weeks 2 days today. I heard the heartbeat and seen it on the monitor. The heartbeat was 128bpm.
I was a nervous wreck leading up to this appointment. I'm 31 and this is a 1st for me. My husband and I have prayed a long time for this. So... it is a huge blessing. I'm trying to take things in stride now...
My first appointment is tomorrow which will be 8 weeks. This is my second but i had minor issues during my first pregnancy and this time im having some thyroid issues so i don't want to wait too long. Also i am very excited and impatient so i don't think i could wait any longer.
I called the morning I found out (Oct. 16), & I went in for my first appointment today. I go for my dating ultrasound tomorrow since my Dr & I disagree on my EDD.
I tested positive on a Saturday and called the following Monday. We are new to the area so I needed to find a new OB. The first place I called wouldn't see me until 8 weeks, which I think it pretty normal! I don't have regular periods though so we couldn't figure out when I should come in. The next OB I called saw me that day to confirm the pregnancy at which point we found out I was about 4 weeks. I had my first real appointment at 8 though!
I was 6 weeks at my first appointment, I thought I was 8 weeks but I ovulated later. Once I got a positive test I researched doctors in my area and called to make an appointment.

Make an appointment. Most providers don't see you until after 8 weeks anyway.
When I made my appointment, they didn't even ask me how far along I was. I went in at 7 weeks 5 days. My doctor decided to do an ultrasound then...external. Not a real intravaginal ultrasound. I think she was concerned about an ectopic pregnancy even though I am not considered high-risk and this is my first pregnancy. My real ultrasound was scheduled for 3 days later. Measured right at 8 weeks and saw the heart beating at 158 BPM.
I called to schedule the first appointment the day after I got my BFP. They scheduled me for 10 weeks 1 day. It was an unbearable wait as I found at at 3 weeks 3 days but it was so nice to go in and actually see a flickering heartbeat and something that actually looked like a baby. Standard first appointments for my office are between 8 and 12 weeks.
As PPs have mentioned, go ahead and call the OB office that you want to go to. They are not going to schedule you for before when they would normally see you, anyway, for a first appointment. My OB's office will see you at around 8 weeks for a first appointment.
