I've read sme posts where people pump during their commute and I was wondering how you did this. I'm assuming you're using a hand held pump rather than one you plug in??
You can get a plug in adapter for your cigaret lighter that allows you to plug in your double electric. Gear up, then put a nursing cover over you, voila, pumping and driving
I pumped during one of my commutes everyday for about 12 months. My pump was battery operated-- I used the hands-free pump bra and just pulled my shirt down over the bottles.
Were any of you concerned if you got in an accident? I can't imagine how painful it would be if you went Into the steering wheel and the bottles etc jammed into your boobs?! Were you all driving or passengers?
@NLewis1 where can I find an adapter for my cigarette lighter?
@imsoexcited915 - my husband got ours at Walmart. it just plugs into your cigarette lighter and then you plug your pump into the end of it. Should be in the electronic section. We actually got ours before leaving the NICU to drive 3 hours home with a baby on a pulse oximeter that had a short battery life.
Personally I've never had to pump in the car. I just know I had a plan for it if I needed to.
I was not any more concerned about an accident than I normally would be (which is minimal) and after a few sessions under my belt, it was no big deal. Pumping did not get in the way of safely driving my car.
