1 month shots

My daughter has an appointment tmrw morning for her 1 month shots (1 month old today) I was wondering if any of you give your baby tylenol before the appointment to help with the pain and discomfort from the vaccines? I have had several friends suggest this to me but I wasn't sure as my pediatrician didn't mention this at the 1 week appt. Any info would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks ladies

Are you sure they are getting shots? Which ones? Typically they do shots at 2 month appointment. I would recommend not giving Tylenol unless fussy after the shots - there are studies that show that vaccines are less effective if Tylenol is given prior.

I believe at one month it's just the second hep b vaccine, at least that's what I think our doctor said at little mans appointment on Thursday. I second waiting to see if baby gets fussy after than doing it before

Makes sense. A lot of times they wait until 2 months to give that one.

My daughter got her one month shot (just the 2nd hep b) and she had no discomfort after the shot. And I didn't give her any Tylenol before or after. But I was recommended to after the next round of shots she gets.

Interesting. We don't even have a 1 month visit, just 1 week, 2 weeks, and 2 months. Our pedi eecommends only giving Tylenol if they're fussy. Even running a little fever after is recommended for the immune response.

We also don't have any visits until 2 months for shots and my doctor gave me a note about the next appointment at her two week appointment. It said not to give tylonel to dd before her appointment. I'd avoid.

Tylenol is advised not to be given now that's what we tell our it's according to the aap.

I wouldn't give it before.  Tylenol can mask any reactions which you would want to take note of.
