Obviously the accuracy will be 50/50 but still sounds like a fun test just to pass the time before a/s :)

  • Baking soda test and the intelligencer test were both right for me, but definitely not anything to rely on. They should just be for fun. Like PP said, it's only 50% accurate. :) good luck

  • Well, I'm sorry if you find it annoying. Maybe don't click on a topic that you find annoying. It was more for fun.

You pee on things for fun?
  • @Knottie9983816 so then make one

@jandicho taking a page out of OP's advice book, then why stay?

@AmadorRose is that from the wedding singer? I fucking love that movie!
  • @Knottie9983816 I think the issue is that drive by posters just post these ridiculous things so they wouldn't think to search for that post, or they'd see it plain as day and just create their own post anyway. Issue is a bit harsh since really who cares, but good god, it's annoying. It wouldn't be as bad if these weren't drive bys or were new people actually following board protocol and making intros and participating etc in the board, but the reason people find it so annoying is because it makes it harder to find other posts where girls could really be seeking support or could be bonding. My first BMB went on to fb after our babies came and several of us have met each other, vacationed with each other, etc. When I visited family in Atlanta a girl I wasn't even that close with lent is a PNP, a box of toys, outlet plugs, etc. When you have people clogging up the board with ridiculous posts, it makes it harder to get to that level of closeness. That's probably why people get frustrated and attack instead of ignoring it.

  • @kalanieileen I don't really want to start one... Just throwing the idea out there... Although it may be a moot point because as @NachosAndPeaches pointed out, most people don't use the search bar and would just make one anyway.

Also Nachos, I understand where you're coming from, I really do, but it comes across as super harsh when anytime someone posts something they get attacked. It probably isn't your intention to be that way, but it's coming across to a lot of people like "on Wednesdays we wear pink" and "you can't sit with us" and it's not just you doing it. I use the mobile app as well, so it annoys me from time to time, but it's just part of the deal.

How was your previous birth month board different? I hop back and forth between this one and March, and the March board has sooo much more participation on it! No one gets attacked for "annoying boards" either.
  • So I just looked up the "how to" as a reminder and ended up belly deep in YouTube videos.. This one lady who runs a vlog did the baking soda test three times and always got girl, and a intelligender test which said boy--- and it was a boy! :)
  • If someone can tell me how to delete this post I will delete it. I don't know how to get rid of it.

  • @AmadorRose is that from the wedding singer? I fucking love that movie!

That's a good question - I just really love Steve Bouchemi.
  • I just remembered that there's an ignore function, where you can basically put a specific user on mute

    This is like fucking Christmas

    How do I do this?

    QFP the original post.

If someone can tell me how to delete this post I will delete it. I don't know how to get rid of it.

I wouldn't delete it. It has good points from both sides and people can reference it and take whatever they want from it. Besides, deleting is also called "dirty delete," or DD and that's considered poor forum etiquette. Your post really isn't that bad, only some consider it annoying. I'm impartial to these posts because I know no matter who says these posts are annoying, these posts will continue to be posted by others. So I wouldn't worry.

I asked the admins how to delete a board and they said there isn't a way to, but admins can close one if it violates rules. If you're really considering deleting it, you can just edit it to be blank? I wouldn't either though.
  • Ditto the others, Old Wives Tales are just that and are 50/50 accurate.  Also, I don't get why people find it fun to mix their pee with anything; there's this, and then the Draino post on 2nd tri (?).  Where the hell do these come from?

    Don't delete, it's bad form.

That is definitely from the Wedding Singer. I have the movie memorized so...

For the love of God, please tell me people aren't actually peeing in Drain-o. I can't imagine the nasty fumes that would result.
  • I tried the baking soda thing. It said girl. I also emailed the gender predictors with a couple pictures for the ramzi theory (because I'm speshul) and they also said girl.
We're having twin boys! Dead wrong.

Yea, peeing on stuff is fun. Before getting pregnant I peed on sticks like it was going out of style. I must have missed peeing on things so I grabbed some baking soda.

I find these tests fun because I like data and statistics and science. I bet half the people who are questioning why anyone would do this are either a) wishing they had done it or b) did it or c) jumping on the band wagon, because it's fun to fit in with the cool kids.

I have no desire to pee on anything. I took 3 pregnancy tests because I thought there was a mistake, then went to the doctor for blood work. It's not science or data because, unless (God forbid) your baby has a trisomy that affects his or her sex chromosomes, it's literally a 50% chance of accuracy. Even then, they are identified as male or female and generally have physical and mental delays. I can pee on everything in my kitchen and be no closer to knowing the sex of my baby than I am right now.

    ???
First of all, I said half of the people - I figured the other half were legit. Second I don't consider you a bandwagoner. Third, peeing on something and getting a result gives you data. Data does not mean fact. Science also means experimenting. Those are things I like. You can argue that until you're blue in the face but your post just seems very defensive when not a word of my post was directed at you.

Because I am in the group questioning why anyone would do this...
A - Nope, not one bit
B - Nope, didn't do it, I don't find playing with pee fun
C - If playing with pee is what the cool kids do, I am happy to be an outcast.

Science experiments also mean controlled, which "this experiment" would most certainly not be, so not science.

It was before the bump imploded and they didn't moderate everything. Lol! But I definitely am starting to feel close to a lot of the regs on here. It just takes some time. Hence the reason i have no interest in the fb group until later.

Also OP, I have nothing against you and don't even mind if people on this board want to play with these tests and discuss them. It's just that usually such posts with no other participation or introduction mean they are drive bys and that gets annoying. Everyone is welcome to participate, but think of it as a big social group. It's awkward if a stranger suddenly approaches and asks a random non important question without an introduction or participation in other conversations. It's social etiquette and makes a difference. Now if a new user came in and introduced ten selves and then asked a more relevant question warranting support etc, thats totally different.

And yes it may seem like "on Wednesdays we wear pink" but in several years these traditions have stayed with the bump. On Wednesdays we do HDBD, on Thursdays we do UO, on Fridays we do FFFC. It's just how it's done. It's not done to exclude anybody but when someone doesn't lurk first and understand the culture and these general guidelines, it's annoying!

Very well written!  I agree with everything you've said here.

As a continuation: I feel like I've gotten to "know" NachosAndPeaches over the past few weeks because she has posted quite a bit, and while I don't agree with everything she has said, I very much value her opinions and look forward to her point of view.

What do you mean you don't agree with everything I say? No longer friends.

Just kidding, creepy internet stranger hugs bc that was really sweet!!!! (I wanna do the heart in eyes smiley face emoji but mobile bumping deletes my emojis)
