I have not used them yet but since I've had a miscarriage at 4.2 and a preterm labor at 21.6 weeks so for my next pregnancy my doctor recommended them starting around week 16.
I'll try anything to avoid going through another lost.

I used Makena for my last 2 pregnancies. Though my babies were still preterm, we managed to hold off for weeks after the contractions really started, and my cervix remained a good length. My OB didn't know if it helped, but said it certainly didn't hurt.
We've moved internationally since then and the OB here doesn't believe in Makena or Nifedapine to delay preterm labor.
Again, I'm not sure if it actually helped, but it mentally helped me to believe I was doing everything possible. Makena is stupid expensive, but if you can afford it it was worth the peace of mind for me.
