OPK question

I'm hoping to get some insight on opk's, I've tried using the wondfo ones and have never gotten a positive, even on the cycle I conceived.  I started using them again and again have yet to get a positive one.  Has anyone use a digital one and have luck were as they didn’t with the other ones.  They just cost more and if I’m going to get the same results I rather not spend the extra money for nothing.  Are they more likely to catch my surge than the regular ones or pretty much the same, just fancier.

TIA

This would be better suited on the TTGP board. There is a newbie post at the top that explains all this.

The reason I posted here was to hopefully to some insight from someone who is pregnant and has had success with opk's.

Okay, well, are you using only one per day? If so, try using three. Morning, afternoon and evening. Your surge may be short and you could miss it. Also, the OPKs only detect the surge, not actual ovulation. This means you could get a positive and still not actually ovulate.

Temp. Daily. And chart it. It's the only 100% way to confirm ovulation.

Lurker here - never been able to turn an OPK.  Either a wondfo or the expensive digis.  I am ovulating every month.  If you do a search, OPKs are discussed frequently and not uncommon for some ladies to never be able to get a positive.  If you are super hydrated that makes it harder too.

However, to answer your question, they both are looking for for an LH surge.  So one is fancy and one is not (assuming you are NOT talking about the CBAD).  The CBAD looks for a surge of 2 different hormones.

Yeah I was using three a day, I might go back to temping also.  Looking into digi they only want you to test once a day just wondering if their better or something.

    Not better. Just different.

Temping is the only thing that worked for me. I never turned an OPK positive, and I've been pregnant twice so I definently ovulate.

I have never used the wondfo or other paper ones, only digital. The first full month of temping and using digital OPKs I got my BFP so I may not be the best to ask. But I used them once per day and that was enough for me to get a definite positive. Good luck!

    Lurker here.

Ditto to the pp. I was temping for 4 months, and the last month I tried the CBAD as well, and got my bfp. Just because it worked for me, doesn't mean it will work for you though. It could have been coincidence. Everyone is different.

We conceived the first time with an OPK, clear blue digital. Yeah it was expensive but obviously worth it for me. I got a positive right when I knew (I had been tracking my cycles for 4 years, to not get pregnant). Never tried temping so I have no clue about that. I can just tell you from my experience, the digital OPK worked for me.

I conceived in the month that I ran out of opks a week before O. If you just have sex eod from the end of your period until temping confirms O, they're not really necessary. I don't think I'll even bother with them when we start ttc#2.

Definitely temp as well! And track all through the month, not just in the 'fertile window'. A friend of mine went to a fertility specialist after over 12 mths of trying. During tracking they found out that she actually ovulated during her period. Don't even know how that's possible, but it just shows how different, cycles between women can be.

I got pregnant the first time with a digital opk. That unfortunately ended in mc. This time the only thing I did was temp but even then, I wasn't paying attention to the temps. Our new pregnancy was sort of a fluke. Lol

That's not possible. You can get pregnant if you have sex during your period and you have short cycles, but it's not possible to ovulate and menstruate at the same time. Most likely she was having ovulation spotting and she thought it was her period. You are correct, temping would have cleared that up.
