Ive had it!!! Help, please??

My daughter will be 6 months on the 2nd and she just started this thing where she will be extremely pissed off at the drop of a hat. It's been like this for 3 days now. She wants nothing yet everything at the same time it seems.

Everything will be perfectly fine and she will be playing with DH then when she sees me it's instant fussing for me to pick her up. When I do she is happy for about 5 minutes then all hell breaks loose. I'm talking fussing and then screaming at the top of her lungs. I've tried everything...walking with her, singing, playing, changing, feeding, taking her outside, bouncing her, rocking her, and basically everything in my arsenal that has been working. I know she's not bored because she's got enough toys to keep every kid in my town entertained plus she was JUST HAPPY 5 minutes ago.

She's getting plenty of sleep at night and during the day. She's teething, but doesn't appear to be in pain when she's acting this way. She's not hungry, wet, or dirty when these fits of baby rage occur. I just don't know what it is! Even my mom has no clue either and thinks she's just a moody baby. If that's the case...I guess it is what it is.

I'm just at my wits end. Nobody likes anything sounding off so freaking loud in their face like that. Also worth mentioning that it doesn't appear to be tummy problems or colic. Doctor said she's healthy as can be.

Re: Ive had it!!! Help, please??

  • My little man will be 6 months on the 13th. The past few week has been similar for us. I know he's teething, but it's not the super bad, teeth about to pop thru kind. My first 2 had horrible runny noses and slight fevers when cutting teeth. He's just drooly and wants to chew. Also seems kinda bored with all the usual toys, saucer, etc.. Been really clingy too. He usually naps no problem, but now he wants to see or touch me before he'll fall asleep. Or wants to sleep on the boob and wakes crying as soon as I lay him down.

I think it's some kind of development stage. I don't do the wonder weeks, but from what I briefly read online about the ww it said alot of these are signs of it.

Hope it passes because the little bit I was getting done is not happening now! GL!

  • Thank you. Its nice to know my LO isn't the only one going through this crazy episode. Hope it calms down soon!

  • I have the wonder weeks app and it says during this time is the leap of relationships and parents are often exhausted after this leap. It looks like it should only last through the 6th month. My LO will do similar things where she is totally fine then just breaks out crying. Good luck!
  • I'm sorry you're struggling with a baby who's happy one minute then fussy the next for no apparent reason. It's hard to not be able to soothe. I hope it's a phase like a wonder week. I thought teething pain when I read your post. Like a little pang of pain that subsides.

  • Thanks ladies. She's been alright today for the most part. She's down for her 2nd nap! I really hope that she's not in pain and I'm just missing it.

  • My LO also does this but I bought a Baltic Amber teething necklace and I swear her mood changes when I put it on her! Idk if it's placebo or not but she definitely goes from fussy and inconsolable to just wanting to be near me. So I'm happy with that. I also use breast milk popsicles. Those make her happy too.
  • I recently put an amber teething necklace on my little guy as well and it has helped tremendously. He still gets fussy after his bath before bedtime but not like it was just a couple of days ago before I put the necklace on.
  • I've heard of those and will be getting one! Thanks for reminding me ladies!!

Omg I thought that I was the only one. My 6mo old dd is a sweet smiling princess most times but then out of nowhere comes tantrum over nothing that leaves me wanting to cry with her sometimes. I keep thinking it's teething but sometimes she just throws a toy and flip out. I think their minds are understanding something that we don't but they think we should. I pray she chills out soon. It's embarrassing when people are glaring at you in public but she's a baby and besides it usually happens at home or in the car.
  • It usually happens with us at home and in the car. It has happened in public once or twice, but as soon as we carry her all is well in her world again lol. She just likes to look at stuff instead of riding in the stroller.

As far as the tantrums, they have finally let up. I'm thinking it was a growth spurt. She's fine and happy now, lol.
