3rd Trimester

Really painful bh

I'm 38weeks+3 and have been having I think braxton hicks for the last 3 days.. Today I was out shopping and literally doubled over and had to sit on the floor in the middle of the shop I was in that much pain across all my lower tummy and back it was like an extremely bad period pain, I wanted to be sick it hurt that much. Lasted about 2 minutes and then not had a thing since.. Has anyone else had a bh that bad or was it something else completely? Obviously not labour because it was like 5 hours ago now

Re: Really painful bh

  • I get very painful BH and I am only 33 weeks. My doctor says don't stay out and on my feet too long but that is easier said than done. Chugging water and resting calms them in a couple hours
  • Well I was out shopping so on my feet but it wasn't for long only there about 20 minute when it happened.. I guess I'll be staying home resting for this last week now:) can't say that's a problem..
  • It my have been a real contraction your just not in labor yet
  • Tbh that sounds like labour! I didn't know BH could be so painful? Mine hurt a bit when I'm dehydrated so drink plenty of fluids and relax :)

BH can be very very strong and painful towards the end. Stay hydrated. Your body will "practice" for labor in the weeks before the real deal. Those can be very painful and even timeable. I feel for you because I understand that sensation. I had the practice contractions/BH from 37 weeks to almost 42 weeks with my son EVERY NIGHT from 3am to 6am. It was almost always painful and I wondered (at that time) if I was actually in labor. It would almost always peter out. If your contractions become time-able keep a close watch on it.

  • I'm now 39+1 day and nothing's happened, still getting period pains and back ache. Been up most nights with it but no baby.. Think my body is definitely just preparing itself. Hopefully not long now

I went to 42 weeks like that. I hope you don't, but you could have another week. I'm sorry!
