quantitative test results

I had some bleeding over the weekend so I went in for a quantitative lab draw. According to my last mental period I should be 5w5d. She called with the results. They were 7753! She said according to these numbers I'm 6w4d. Im a little cofused to what this all means. My ultrasound isnt until next week. Does anyone have any insights?

Re: quantitative test results

  • It's just your HCG levels, and they are not really a good indication of how far along you are. They can be very different in different people. I was at over 9000 at 6 weeks.
Sounds like you have good high numbers though, so that's a good thing!

  • I am 5w2d and got levels done on Monday. They called yesterday and mine are over 14,000. I think it's diff for everybody, and as long as its steadily going up, you're good!!!
  • Provided my hCG keeos doubling as it was, I would be over 16,000 today (5w5d). The range is so huge for each week and there's tons of overlap early on between the ranges, I wouldn't be overly concerned. Ultrasound dating is much more reliable than using betas.
  • Don't count your chickens! I had a HCG of 8490 at 4w4d and 13185 at 4w6d. Doc thought multiples or possible molar...at 6w5d I had a U/S and confirmed only one healthy baby with a HB of 147. It baffled my doc so far, but it just goes to prove that every woman is different. Try not to stress, that doesn't do any good for you or baby!
  • Yeah, no way does that mean 6 1/2 weeks... There's a very broad range for hcg levels. Heck I was 14,000 at 5 + 1 - it's really not supposed to be used for anything other than making sure your levels double properly.
  • Also, it's possible you ovulate earlier than CD14 and that's accounting for your higher numbers. Unless you were temping and charting, you really don't know when you ovulated. Did they do an u/s?

Yep, I was temping and charting.... Definitely ovulated on the 1st. I don't have an ultrasound until November 13! :(
