When to test.....

Hi All! I finally broke down and went to the reproductive endo on in the 15th after TTC since a loss in Feb (got PG super fast the first time). In my new patient visit they did an internal US and told me that it looked like I hadn't ovulated yet. That was CD24. Based on his estimation he thought I would ovulate in "a couple of days". I started back-up using my OPKs (I had given up on day 18 thinking maybe surge was super short and I missed it). Low & behold +OPK the next day and the day after that.

So....it's 10DPO (CD36). The longest cycle I've had this year was 37D. I suspect I might be PG as I feel much like I did the last time, but of course it could be wishful thinking as I really don't want to have to do meds etc.

I missed FMU today because I was so undecided as to what to do. Should I test when I get home, just wait until tomorrow AM, or give it even more time?! The suspense is killing me!

Hi! First I'm sorry about your loss... and hopeful that you have success TTC again quickly! As for testing, I think it depends on how you will feel if you get a BFN, knowing that its is early on and even if you are KU it may not register on a HPT yet, if that wont bother you and you can still be hopeful a BFP will come in a few days, then I'd say go for it, but if you think that may be too disappointing to handle, I'd wait until AF arrives or is late to test. Just my thoughts as I know its hard to see a BFN! Good luck to you!

Test whenever you want. But, just know implantation occurs on average between 7-10 days, sometimes earlier or later, so it may take a few more days before there is enough HCG in your system to see a +, if the egg was in fact fertilized.

ETA: Many women see multiple LH surges, thus will see multiple + OPKs in a given cycle. So, a +OPK doesn't necessarily mean you ovulated. Are you temping? A clear sustained upward shift in BBT is the only way for you to confirm you've actually ovulated.

I second what @crdo said about temping!

I got BFNs until 14 dpo and I have a 12 day LP. If you don't like seeing BFNs, I would definitely hold out a few days longer before testing. Good luck to you for this month!!

Thanks! I have not been temping. I have a known anovulatory condition (prolactinoma), so the data didn't seem to make sense so I gave up on it. I totally get the days to implantation, HCG doubling every 24-48hrs so could be too early to test. Pretty sure that the two long cycles I have had are the only ones that I actually ovulated, so I don't think AF would be "late" until tomorrow. I think the reason I am so unsure is I'm not sure how I will feel LOL. I'd def keep testing until either a BFP or AF.

I'm sorry for your loss.

I didn't get a BFP until 12DPO, and then it was very faint. I got a clear BFP today, when AF was due, 14DPO.

You should head over to TTC. There are some very supportive and knowledgeable ladies there. Their Newbie Guide is fantastic!

As PPs said, it' s up to you when to test. I started testing every day at 9DPO and didn't get a BFP until 12 DPO. If you're okay with seeing BFNs, you can test whenever you want

I second the thought and also suggest you try the TTC board, great women out there.

Sorry for your loss. If you're temping and use Fertility Friend, the app will suggest when you should test. I O'd really close to when AF was due this cycle so got an obvious BFP on 11DPO, but AF was also a day late by that time. I think it's different depending on hormone levels and your normal. I second what PPs have said and suggest hanging out in TTGP. Those ladies are amazing and have a huge wealth of knowledge you can tap into. Good luck!!

I hate seeing BFNs, and I swore I wouldn't test until 14 dpo. But on 12 dpo my will snapped and I tested lol. I wouldn't do it any earlier than 12 dpo, personally.
