36 1/2 Weeks & Still Working

36 1/2 weeks and I am still working FT, I started lowering my hours to 40 about 3 weeks ago. But being here 8 hours a day is brutal, I have been trying to split my days working from the office and then home from the couch.

When is everyone going out on leave?

Re: 36 1/2 Weeks & Still Working

  • I'm about 38 1/2 weeks and still working 40+ hrs/wk.  I plan to go out on leave the day or the Monday after I go into labor.
If there's something strange underneath the hood.  Who you gonna call?  Your Doctor.  If there's something weird and it don't look good.  Who you gonna call?  Your Doctor.  Immediately.  If it's new, painful, and possibly pregnancy related get your ass off the internet and call your doctor.  It's for your health and your child's.

  • Same here. I'll be 39 weeks Thursday and I'm still working full time until my baby girl decides to make her appearance. It's definitely not easy but you've got to do what you've got to do!
  • I'm planning on working til the end. Can't really imagine it any other way.
  • I was made to finish at 34 weeks by my doctor I'm a chef and the hours and level of work was not having a good impact on my body or baby, thankfully I get pretty decent benefits and my job is held for a year, ideally I would have worked the whole way through but baby's health comes before extra $$$. Hats off to you ladies who are sticking it out!
  • Working until 39.3, on my feet the whole time. By the time I'm done I look like I should be rolled out of the door. They only way I could stop sooner is if baby comes early! It's not easy but having my hubby help with chores and making dinner makes things a little easier.
  • I worked until 38 weeks but then you gotta do what you gotta do!! Most important thing is your health and baby's health. I felt that two weeks before due date as plenty late enough in a very busy sales job. I also had a doctors note because I am on the road so much, that I needed to cut out the hours of driving so I worked from home for the last couple weeks. It was well worth it!
  • Im 38 weeks working 40hrs a week. I mostly sit on my butt so I get plenty of rest. Unless meeting with a client.
  • 36 weeks tomorrow. Working until I have the baby
  • Really it totally depends on how you feel and what you do for a living.
  • I'm 38w today and still working FT. Not planning on starting leave until the day before my due date (or whenever I go into labor). I'm starting to wonder if that was a wise choice though, as I've recently started to feel pretty crappy and I'm definitely not working up to my usual standards which totally bums me out.
  • I worked up to 40 weeks when pregnant with my first. You can do it! :)
  • I'm 37 weeks and still working FT. I don't get paid maternity leave or FMLA ( small company ) , so I'm trying to work until I go into labor so I can spend the most time with my LO.

  • Working up until the baby comes because who knows when this baby will come. I was originally going to stop working at 38 weeks but then I realized it could be 3.5 weeks til I had the baby and I'll go crazy at home waiting lol.
  • RN in a busy ER, DH is off work for a year because of surgery/chemo so I'm working up till the end. Sucks but gotta suck it up! I've been told it'll make labor easier being so active haha
  • Be happy you work in an office.
I'm on the road most of the day with limited access to bathrooms. Today I was hiking in the woods looking for a hunter who had been shot.
I'll be working until he decides to come.
  • Currently 38.3 working FT also. My last day is this Friday, and I cannot wait. My actual tasks aren't the issue, the hour traffic jammed commute is what I'm ready to get away from. Houston life!
  • 36+2, still working full time, but my job responsibilities have shifted a bit so I'm not on my feet for my whole shift. Plan to work up until labor unless there is a medical reason to stop.
    Me: 28, DH: 40
    Married 9/28/13
    DS born 11/12/15
    EDD 8/13/18
  • 36 wks here too, I work on my feet all day and was feeling exhausted and shitty working 40 hours a week so last week I started scaling back my hours, I'm only working 3 days a week now until 39 weeks. I wanted to have a week at home before my due date to relax and get things done. I work for a small company so there's no guaranteed leave, no paid time off, etc, so it doesn't really matter when I start leave or not. Double edged sword, I guess, because I will have zero income coming in when I don't work, but also don't have to stress about working up until my due date to save up time.
  • I'm 38 weeks pregnant and starting taking PTO every Monday last week. The 3 day weekends are nice for relaxing and getting things done! I am planning to leave my job for good once the baby is here. My last day is November 6th so I just need to get through the next 1.5 weeks. It is much harder than I thought to be working this late in pregnancy!! Hang in there ladies!
  • 35 weeks... working up until I have the baby. Seems like everyone just realized I'm going to be going out on leave soon so it's been less than fun with all the extra work
  • 36 weeks also. I plan on working til the end. It's tough sometimes. At my job ur on ur feet the whole time also it's a lot of getting on the floor, getting up from the floor, & bending over. (Daycare) I just remind myself there are pregnant women who have it tougher when I feel like bitching lol my job doesn't have PTO either so I also need the extra cash when there isn't any income coming in although my fiancé could do all the bills fine on his own. I just would rather help him out a bit.
  • I'm going to the end, so I can take my full 12 weeks after LO arrives. I have a pretty sedentary office job, so the worst part is climbing one flight of stairs to get to my office. I used to work in daycare, and now I'm amazed at the coworkers I had who worked up into the end! I can't stay on my feet for long without them swelling and my back getting really sore.
  • I am 37 weeks and I was planning on working up until my scheduled c-section in 2 weeks 2 days.  But now I have been sleeping so badly and the long commute to and from work is wearing on me.  So I might take a couple vacation days before the actual date to get some extra rest before the baby comes.  Just so I don't go into it exhausted.
  • I'm 38+5 & still working 40+ hours a week. Next week I'm fortunate enough to work from home, but I'll still be clocking full time hours. I won't be taking leave until baby comes. It's tough, but like PPs have said, you do what you have to do!

  • I'm a full time student and a part time nanny. I'm also doing applications for graduate school and all at 38 weeks. Sometimes you have to do what you have to do because my classes are only paid through December, so if I don't finish now I'm going to be majorly fucked trying to scrape up that money. There's just absolutely no room for failure now that someone else is depending on me. Good luck mama!
    Do unto others.
  • I'm working pretty much until the end. My original due date is today, but my second due date is Sunday. I'm finishing the week on Friday and not going back in on Monday.
  • My choice would be to go to the end, just because I see myself going a little nuts with too much time off. It's not like I'd be on a beach somewhere soaking up the sun and sipping on cocktails. Otherwise, I'd gladly take an early leave!

My boss has made it abundantly clear that I'll be making no more site visits after 38 weeks. I'm not arguing, being on the road all day sucks when you have to pee every two seconds. I've trucked into the woods and dropped my drawers on many a job site. When you're in the middle of no where and babe is putting the pressure on, there's only one way to go!!!

After 38, I'll prob work part time from home until the little one decides to make its appearance :)
  • Still working till the big day. 40 hrs a week on my feet but I haven't had any swelling or pain so I'm feeling pretty good. I only get 6 weeks partial pay so I'm not wasting a second of it without my baby especially if I go into labor a week late.
  • Still working FT here at 39+1...  Working through Saturday, two days off, then officially starting my leave on Tuesday, the day after my CS is scheduled (breech baby refuses to turn).
  • 35 weeks and so tired of it!
Working from home / slightly less hours (30ish) because when I'm down at the restaurant I'm running around like a crazy person. I can only do it in couple-hour spurts now without my back going crazy.
  • I'm a teacher and I'm working up until baby comes (I'm 37.5 weeks). If I stop working early then that times comes off my maternity leave. I worked up until with DD as well. It's definitely getting hard but my students and co-workers are very understanding and patient.
  • I'm due Saturday, Nov. 28 and am planning to work full time in the office up until 38+6. I'll work from home the week of Thanksgiving (it's a short, 2.5 day week anyway.) I'm 35+3 today. We'll see if all goes according to plan!

I live in NJ and we get the 4 weeks prior to the due date off. If you don't use it, you lose it. You can't tack it on the backend of your leave. So I've been done work since 36 weeks. I'm 37 weeks today.

Ditto! I'm using it! My last day of work is Friday. I'll be 36 weeks Saturday. Thought about working another week but I'm losing my patience with people fast.
  • God bless all you ladies working until you deliver. Especially those of you on your feet your entire shift.
  • I had planned to work until baby at 39 weeks (scheduled 4th c) but due to health issues I was put on bed rest this week at 37 weeks. Its def what is best for my health as 13 hour shifts in a psych hospital is a bit taxing. We don't expect to make it another week pregnant either.
