Vitamins?

I am having a hard time with eating healthy. I am currently taking my pre-natal vitamin and vitamin D recommended by my nurse. Should I be taking other vitamins? Is it safe or can you over do it?

  • I would think that the prenatal vitamin and vitamin D if you need it would be enough. If you're really concerned I would take to your doctor or nurse.

  • I have been having a hard time taking vitamins (had to switch to some Gummy ones because I couldn't keep the others down). I talked to my doctor about the different types of vitamins I need to be taking and that I was concerned that the Gummy Vitamins wouldn't be enough. My doctor just told me as long as I'm making sure to take Folic Acid that I am good.  :)>-
  • I was on the gummy prenatals, but my doctor was concerned I wouldn't be getting enough iron without it in the prenatal, so she told me to switch to flintstones chewables and I'm doing a gummy supplement for the DHA (only). There was actually more folic acid in the flintstones than in my prenatal gummies. (I can't swallow pills, and I'm not anemic, she actually said my iron count was higher than normal, but I should still have more iron :/ ) Now I have almost a full container of prenatal gummies left...  I told my doctor I originally wanted to keep taking my prenatal gummies and add an iron gummy I found, but it had other high vitamin amounts in it and she told me not to and suggested the above remedy, so I wouldn't have too much of certain types of vitamins.  
    According to this article, too much of Vitamins A, D, E, and K are bad during pregnancy. But in the end you should always talk to your doctor of course.

  • It's more important to eat healthy because our bodies don't absorb nutrients from vitamins as well as we do from real food. Just do your best, and the baby should be fine.
