Extremely late OB appointment anxiety.

Okay so I just recently moved from Idaho to Colorado to be back with my family. I am on Tricare which means having to deal with military hospital scheduling and I am freaking out because I will not be having my 12 week appointment or anywhere near it. Since I just moved, I have to do an intake appointment at the hospital before they will even assign me to an OB... And the soonest they can get me in for the intake is Nov 17th. I will be almost 16 weeks.

I have already seen my baby's heartbeat, my OB in Idaho did an early ultrasound at 7 weeks and I know that theoretically everything is okay but I just can't keep from worrying. I have had a previous loss about two years ago. Also I am missing the windows to do some important tests such as the NT and I am just all around a terrified first time mom.

I guess my question is has anyone else been in this situation, can anyone give me advice or guidance? Even just words of encouragement would be great at this point...

I haven't been in that situation, but wanted to pop in and say that I am in CO, too! I am a worrier by nature, so what has been helping me is just repeating, "I am pregnant right now and I am going to enjoy it." It doesn't always work, but most of the time is does!

I'm sorry I was on Tricare for a year right after my DH and I got married since it was free and we figured "why not". I regretted that decision almost every day because it can be such a difficult and lengthy process even for simple things. Are you able to speak to a PCM to see about the NT test?

Have you considered switching to Tricare Standard? Then you don't have to deal with a PCM and can go anywhere you want that's in network without a referral. I'm on Tricare Standard, I've had about 4 doctor's appointments with ultrasounds, and I've paid a grand total of $20. I know my husband has some taken out of his paycheck each time because I'm on Standard, but I think it may be $20 or so. May be worth the peice of mind. If you switch from Prime, you have to stay on Standard for a year, then you can switch back to Prime.

No advice on how to get in earlier - but, my mom never had a single ultrasound for her kids, neither did any of my friend's moms. Back then (30ish years ago), nobody did an ultrasound unless there was an obvious problem/concern. So maybe just pretend it's the 80s and relax? I know easier said than done, but for a long time that was the only option, and most of us turned out totally fine!

Yes @missnc77 this is exactly what I was going to suggest! I'm currently on tricare prime, yet we move from ca to va in December when I will be 18 weeks and I am switching to tricare standard so that I can call and schedule an spot for right when we get to va. It's truly crazy how long they take to get you to a dr nonetheless

I have a regular private insurance & haven't even seen the ob once yet (am 9+4), let alone had an us. It'll work out!!
