TTC after 35

OPK question

Has anyone ever had the clearblue advanced go from and empty circle one day to a solid smiley the next? That happened to me this morning and it took me by surprise. I've never just skipped the flashies altogether. Hm. On the upside, we went ahead and BD last night since I didn't trust the empty circles, but still. Strange.

Re: OPK question

  • I never got a flashy smiley face.  Always went from circle to solid smiley.  I asked the nurse about it and she said some women don't get the flashy faces and they prefer the strips

  • Huh! That's super interesting (and reassuring) @agriffin92013. I got 2-3 days of flashies for the last couple of months, so this seemed odd. But I'm glad to know it isn't!
  • I've had that happen a couple of times -- this cycle and the first time I got pregnant.  The flashing smiley indicates an estrogen surge, and the solid smiley indicates a luteinizing hormone surge.  If they surge the same day, you only get the solid smiley.

RE says the low egg count is likely causing my recurrent pregnancy loss. Less eggs results in more aneuploidy.

  • Interesting, @carrieandroy. I knew that they indicated the surge of different hormones, but I didn't realize those hormones could sometimes surge on the same day. Well. We'll see how things turn out! Keeping everything I have crossed (except my legs! Ha!).
  • I don't use opk's but wanted to say GOOD LUCK @Sporty1216!  Sounds promising
