Graco pack n play napper for sleeping?

I'm so confused! We have a Graco pack n play with the napper in our bedroom for when baby comes. We plan to have him sleep in the napper in the pack n play but I just Googled and got all sorts of results, does anyone know if this is safe or if he would be more safe in the flat part of the pack n play?

Mine says that the napper is only for sleeping short periods. I would read the instructions/cautions.

I have a Graco pack n play with the bassinet insert, napper, and changing pad attachment. I had DS sleep in the bassinet part. I'm not sure which model you have.

I have an ingenuity play yard and it doesn't say anything in the manual about it being unsafe. Like PP said I would read the manual

We just got the same one. From what I previously read they can use the napper part for shorter periods of time and then put them in the bassinet level for sleeping at night. But now I'm going to double check the manual as well

We are doing the same thing, we have the graco pack and play with the changing station, napped, bassinet combo. We are going to be putting him in the bassinet part, as it is closest to a crib.

I'm just using the bassinet for sleeping, I want LO to get used to sleeping in a flat open space ASAP.

Ok I'm so confused! We got the PNP specifically for her to sleep in in our room. Our master is upstairs and her bedroom is down stairs.

It comes with a bassinet and changing pad. Which I assumed we would only use when she was a tiny little newborn. When she outgrows the bassinet I figured (didn't even give it a second thought) that she could sleep on the mattress below the changing table and bassinet. Is this not right? 

We also planned to use it for her to sleep in when we go to our beach house too. Why would they make these "portable beds" if they are unsafe to sleep in? I might call Graco today.

For that one she should only sleep in the bassinet part until she is able to roll over. The little napper should be used for naps, hanging out in the living room, etc. Napper shouldn't be used for overnight sleeping. And I always used my pack n play as portable bed once DS was older. Don't stress too much mama. No need to buy anything else. That's enough.

We live in a two story home also and plan to have one upstairs and one downstairs. She has her own room upstairs but I wanted to have her in the same room for the first month or so.

Then downstairs we have this one - we plan on using the napper for when she is little for naps if she is not in her rock n play downstairs. Eventually nap in the bassinet portion of this one. The changing part comes on and off so when she is in the bassinet part you don't have to worry about anything being over their face. Piggy back question, I'm doing the bassinet in the PNP but do I put a sheet on or can I keep it bare?

What brand pnp do you have? Graco makes fitted sheets for the bassinet portion

Read the manual. It will tell you what sheets are/are not approved for use.

I was also under the impression the "napper" was fine at night because realistically they aren't sleeping more than a few hours at a time anyway. Ours is right next to our bed as well, but I guess I will research this today!

uh oh! I used the napper portion with both my other children and planned on using it again for my next child. It was fine. But now Im worried I am doing something wrong! Both kids slept in them for about 4 wks then we transitioned to the crib. I also have the rock n play can they sleep in that at night?

I'd say the napper would be fine at night for a while because, as PP said, they won't be sleeping for 8-9 hours immediately. My sister has the fold-up rocking nappers, and her girls slept in them for the first two or three weeks. Unless LO is unusually big or is moving around and getting his face tucked up against things, the napper is probably just fine for room-sharing.
