Starting Clomid without a period?

Hi all,

Sorry I've been MIA, I was on a work trip & then in a wedding out of town. Anyways...so my cycle is a little out of whack since my CP. This past cycle I didn't O & it doesn't look like AF is coming anytime soon (I'm day 33 right now). My RE gave me a higher dose of Clomid & said to pick a day & call it "day 3" & to start my Clomid. Has anyone done this before? Did AF end up coming during any part of your Clomid? I'm just afraid AF will come when I start it which would mess up the timing. I need to ask my RE these questions but can't til Monday. Thanks ladies!

Re: Starting Clomid without a period?

  • I have never heard of this before. I have never had consistent cycles as I do not O on my own. I have done medicated cycles with my OBGYN and ER. Both providers have ALWAYS had me induce AF using provera. I mean hey if that is an option it seems like a much better one. With provera it usually takes 10-15 days for AF to start and that always feels like a long wait...lol.

  • That doesn't seem like it would work very well.  What if you ovulate tomorrow?  I've had cycles where I've ovulated really late.  Hmm.  I'm assuming though, a RE would know what they're doing.  Good luck!

  • Yes, the other 3 rounds I did I had a provera induced AF or it came on its own. My RE reassured me this was an option but I got a little nervous. I'm supposed to talk to her today before I just start so I can get some questions answered. It just seemed odd to me! Thanks for your input ☺️
  • Fill us in on the rationale @Aera11.  I've never heard of this.

  • @Aera11 Is there an update? I'm interested in the rationale as well.
