Rock n play - auto or not?

I have seen many of you mention using a rock n play for their lo. I want to get one to try with my lo who is a week old now. I see there is a basic one and an automatic. Have any of you found the auto one to be necessary or do you use the basic?

I really just want it for the incline because she loves to lay in her boppy pillow, but if I'm going to get it, should I go ahead and spend the extra to get the auto?

We have the basic that just vibrates but I'd say it depends on your lo. For ours if the rocking helps her calm down it's enough for me to just do it for a couple of minutes. If she wants than that she usually wants to be held and rocked. Also ours is on hardwood flooring and her moving around is often enough to rock it a bit (and the golden retriever obsessively checking on her)

I don't know if that helps but I've only said once that maybe we should've spent the extra money. She sleeps like a champ in it and it's so easy to move from room to room.

Thanks. I was going to get the basic, but got the one with the auto rocker (as walmart didn't have the other one). So far, she seems to like it. The only thing I wish is that the one with the auto rocker also had the vibrate option

Our auto rock n play does vibrate. I would see if you can exchange!

Really...I'm going to have to check into that then. Given, my husband and I put it together when we half asleep, so maybe I need to reread the directions and check out the buttons again.
