Even though I've been doing this SAHM thing for nearly 7 years, I still feel like my days are chaotic. We don't have a schedule, or rhythm to our days. But, I would like to. I'm not even sure it's possible with two 3 year olds in the mix!
Do you have a timeline that you follow during the day/ week? Would you share it if you do?

ETA, if you;re like me and don't have a schedule, please let me know that too!

Re: SAHM Schedule

  • When I took DS out of daycare, I tried to keep to the daycare schedule at 1st:
    9am breakfast/snack
    10am play outside
    11am lunch
    1pm nap
    4pm snack
    5:30pm dinner
    7:30pm bath
    8-8:30pm story, bedtime

Now we are over the place. DS has asthma and needs steroids 2x a day that seem to interfere with sleeping which throws off our schedule and makes it somewhat unpredictable. Now I try to get out of the house and keep him active as much as I can in the morning to wear him out enough to nap. Getting him to bed has been harder.

  • It changes a little but here's how our day basically goes...

7-8 wake up and eats breakfast
    9:30 nap
    11:30/12 lunch
    12:30/1 outside play, walk, errands
    Afternoon nap sometimes 2/3/4:00
    4:30/5 eat
    6:30/7 bath time
    7:30/8 eat
    8-9 bedtime
  • I've only been a SAHM for a few months but even on weekends when I was working we've kept on a schedule of sorts.

    7am - wake 7 & 4 year old, get them breakfast, dressed & ready

7:45 - wake 1 yr old, load kids & take oldest to school

8 - return home, fix breakfast for 1 yr old

8:20-10ish - either play outside, color, watch a movie, meet up for playdate (which may run us through to lunch)

    10:30 snack

    11:30-12ish lunch

12:30-2:30 nap/quiet time (even on the weekends my oldest has to play quietly in his room during quiet time)

3 - pick oldest up from school

3:30-4ish snack then homework with oldest while the other two play with toys

5-5:30ish dinner then clean up (will also have kids do a toy pick up while I clean up the kitchen); let kids watch a movie or cartoon

    7:15 or 7:30 bath

    8:00 bed

  • No real schedule here. I have a 6 month old, 3 yo, & almost 6 yo. Our days vary because I do school pick up only T-Th because that's when DD2 has preschool. Then we have cheer Tues for DD1 & Wed for DD2. They are at different times, so that alters dinner. Tues am I volunteer at my church, and I'm there until all the materials are prepped. Sometimes it takes 45 min, sometimes 3 hours. Then it also depends if DH worked overnight because I try to leave the house for quite a while on those days so he can sleep. We usually try to have lunch at 11:00. Does that count? ;)
