Periods while pregnant??

Hey ladies,
Just checking if any other ladies have had regular periods while they are pregnant? I have and am freaking out, though my doc says everything is ok!?
Anyone else going through this? Any advice?

Periods during pregnancy aren't a real thing (the whole point of a period is to shed the uterin lining along with the unfertilized egg). Bleeding during pregnancy can be normal. So if you're dr isn't concerned, I wouldn't be either.

  • A menstrual cycle is when ur body sheds it's uterus lining.. So it's impossible to have a period while pregnant. I'm assuming u meant to ask if anyone has had a significant bleed- not a period- while pregnant. spotting during pregnancy happens to many women. Heavy bleeding plus cramping can be indicative of problems though. If u are pregnant and bleeding call ur OB. Good luck

  • Just bleeding is what I meant, not an actual period - I'm clearly already starting to have pregnancy brain because I know logically that you can't have a period when you're pregnant! Anyway - has anyone experienced bleeding, not significant enough to be hugely concerned - but just light spotting/bleeding for a number of days throughout their pregnancy?

Lots of people have spotting.  If you are experiencing a lot of blood and it is bright red I'd highly suggest seeing your doctor.  In fact, it's good to mention any type of spotting.

  • Light spotting can be extremely normal, especially after an exam or intercourse.
If you have filled a pad in less than a hour, you should contact your doctor.
  • I've had a period like bleed for 3 days now, bright red. ... I'm worried, but now I busy have to wait for hcg level lab comparison to see if they're going up or down.... let me know how yours goes. Good luck to you.

I'm 8 weeks, in my 6th week I had brown steaks of blood when I wiped. It led to one time of bright red blood. I panicked and called my Dr. She said that the majority of women do not spot, but from what I'm reading on here it's pretty common. If your Dr. says it's okay, you and baby are okay!
  • SCH comes to mind for me. I know plenty of women with SCH and good outcomes. That would be middle ground. On one extreme there's me: bleeding in pg indicated a problem. On the other extreme there's one woman I met online who called herself "The Bleeder"; she bled heavily on and off through four otherwise uneventful pgs; there was never an explanation for her bleeding and all four children were healthy.

  • Kind of experiencing the same thing, Friday morning I had an app with the doctor to receive first HCG results (10,800) but literally half an hour before the appointment I had a bit of dark red blood.
I had another blood test that morning and got the results the same day and the level had risen to 25,000 so the doctor wasn't worried. Since Friday I've had extremely light spotting when wiping, no pain but I'm extremely worried. I have no idea what to expect

Back again tomorrow for another blood test

I haven't personally experienced it BUT I have had my OB tell me that we are creatures of habit and some women bleed around the same time every month throughout their pregnancy, much like a period, because your body knows "Hey, it's time to bleed." If your doctor isn't worried, you shouldn't be either. I've also known several women who bled monthly, much like a period, during their entire pregnancies and had perfectly healthy little gummy bears. Good luck!
