Baby screams when I'm away

Yikes. My LO is 5 months and has been giving my husband a really hard time when they're alone, especially if it's at the end of the day (but sometimes in the mornings too). He has always preferred being comforted by me to some extent, but lately it's been really pronounced. He just screams for 30-45 minutes at time when I'm not around for whatever reason. Then as soon as I get back, he's all smiles. Obviously this is not sustainable, so I'm seeking help...

Does anyone have any ideas on what we could do? My husband is an awesome, gentle, devoted, happy dad, so I'm pretty sure it's nothing he's doing to cause the misery, food strikes, and ear-pearcing crying when I'm gone!  He is EBF when I'm at home, and gets expressed BM when he's with the nanny or my husband. (He can be difficult with the nanny as well but not as much as with my husband.)

Re: Baby screams when I'm away

  • That's hard. The only thing I can think of is to have them spend more time together. Like a whole day without you around, not even in the house (since he can probably sense you!). Does you hubby act nervous/unsure of what to do when he holds LO? Sometimes they can pick up on that.
  • My baby dose this too soon it makes it really hard for me so I end up with my baby in the gym with me and my hubby she fine as long as she can see and smell me the minute I leave she won't stop crying til I come back I can hardly put her down with out her screaming I wonder is it because I breast feed her I thought I was the only one thus is happening too

  • @SmrBrd2012  No, that's the thing, my husband's great with the LO!

@itscecebaby22 What can I say but to wish you good luck!
  • Same thing here. If I want to get away I can only be gone for an hour or so because she just cries the whole time and won't take a bottle whether she's with my husband or grandma.
  • Oh my gosh. Exactly the same. It's impossible.
