July 2016 Moms

Time for an intro, I suppose...

Hello. Hi. Hiya.

I was a regular on TTGP for a while, took a little break from the interwebz for about a month and voila! It worked. BFP on 7DPO and EDD of July 1st. I've had two miscarriages this year alone, nearly back to back, so I'm extremely nervous even about posting here, as i've done this twice already before and had to say goodbye both times. I'm trying to stay positive, but it's definitely harder than it seems.

So far, cramps daily and a weird ache in my uterus has be going CRAZY and googling everything I possibly can. Tell me i'm not alone. I'd adore that.

Congrats to everyone here and I hope to be able to stick around with you all!

  • You are not alone! I've had cramps every single day since before I got my BFP and have also been googling everything. Friends are telling me it's all normal (FTM over here!) So I'm trying very hard to stay away from Dr. Google.

  • Congratulations!! FX this is a sticky baby :).  Oh...and with my first baby I felt like I was having period cramps in the early days.  That can be a very normal symptom.    And as long as googling makes you feel better I say go for it... I google everything.  People don't understand that it actually makes me feel better being informed.... otherwise I sit and agonize silently.  I would rather know what the possibilities could be.

  • I've had cramps every day since about 6 DPO. I tested again this morning just to make sure I'm still pregnant and it wasn't a mistake! I *think* it's normal? Adding it to my list of questions to ask my doctor. FTM here and I'm also googling everything. Dr. Google is scary lol.
  • I haven't been pregnant (minus the two miscarriages) in over six years, so I feel like a FTM all over again! Hence why The Bump is so helpful... I honestly can't remember if I felt this way with DS. I wish there was a fast forward button a few weeks so I know if this one will stick around or not!

Cramps in the beginning of the first trimester is completely normal from everything I've read. Apparently you can expect a certain amount of cramping, abdominal/pelvic discomfort and lower back pain as the placenta develops and implants into your uterus. Also while the uterus grows and stretches in preparation for all the upcoming changing. Your muscles and ligaments are also stretching which causes some discomfort.

The doctor's nurse said cramping is totally normal unless it's worse than twice as bad as your worst period cramps and/or is accompanied by bleeding.

That's great to know, thank you! We've only told a few close friends and they don't have kids so I don't have anyone to ask my random questions. My first doctor's appointment to confirm isn't until next week.
  • Thank you for the reassurance! No bleeding... with my first MC, the bleeding started before the major cramps, so that helps ease my mind a bit. My first appointment is next Friday, so definitely will be asking for an early ultrasound to make sure everything is in there ok!

  • Congrats @WinchestertoPittsburgh!! Didn't see you around the TTGP for a while and I'd hoped you had moved to a BMB!
  • I know exactly how you feel! I had 2 MC earlier this year and just got my BFP 2 days ago. We have been TTC for awhile. Personally, it is a bitter sweet feeling to see a BFP. Although we are happy, DH and I are hesitant to get too excited. My last MC was at 11 weeks, so I don't think I will feel confident about this pregnancy until I reach 12 weeks, which seems like an eternity! I just started taking my leftover progesterone pills and I'm going to make a doctor appointment next week. FX for you, let's hope we are here to stay!!!!!
  • Oh and I forgot to add, with my 2nd MC at 8 weeks I had no cramps, felt fine, had mild spotting (which doctor said was normal) then HCG levels dropped dramatically and doctors gave me medication because they didn't believe that I would MC naturally. 1st MC at 11 weeks I had mild cramping for a couple days, no spotting, then bam! Started seriously bleeding all of a sudden, went to ER and obviously had a MC. Basically I don't trust any symptoms! Cramps aren't always a bad thing, and no cramps isint always a sign that everything is okay either. your pregnant right now and that is what you should Concentrate on, stay away from Google!!! Lol
  • Haha, thanks @Howardbae2015, that helped a lot.... I've been having these same cramps/tingles/aches for the past week, so I figure at this point, I would have started bleeding by now if that's what they meant. Not to say I'm out of harms way, but my mind eases a little each day.
