Stomach Hurts to the Touch

So the last few days my belly has been hurting to the touch around the underside of my belly. I'm nervous about it because, well, everything makes me nervous since I've never been pregnant before. Is this anything to worry about? Or just muscles stretching?

Re: Stomach Hurts to the Touch

  • Do you have any other symptoms? How many weeks are you? Do you have any idea if baby has dropped?

  • @Sballerina I'm 39 weeks 1 day. She has dropped. I've been having a few contractions a night since Monday.
  • Your whole stomach or just a spot here and there? I have found a spot or two that hurt but then went away in a day or two. I think baby pushing out can bruise a bit or just make a particular spot tender.
  • I have a reallllly active baby and have had lots of tender spots, I swear it's bruising my uterus. Could that be the case? Otherwise, my baby is dropped and has caused a lot of growing pains too. If it really makes you nervous you can always call the dr to ease your concerns?
  • I'm thinking along the lines of @NathanheartsKim. It's possible that the sudden shift downward made your lower belly more sensitive. I notice I have stretch marks there now but I don't think I did before baby dropped lower. It can be a kind of quick, dramatic shift. Do you have a belly band you could use?
  • I've been having this as well, but baby hasn't dropped at all. Started @ 36 weeks, I'm now 38+5, 3cm &90%. I have been having contractions since 28 weeks. My OB says it is muscles and the weight of the baby as my baby is measuring 99%+ for weight and I'm normally petite. Seems to make sense but still makes me worry too.
