Bedtime?

We have been putting our son to bed at our bedtime around 10. He is 11 weeks today. When we have tried to put him down earlier he wakes up at 3am wide awake and ready to play so I'm nervous to try that again. What time do you put your little ones down? Worried I'm keeping him up too late. He is also not a good sleeper still up every 3-4 hours and he's done a 5-6 hour stretch only a few times.

Re: Bedtime?

  • My LO is usually down by 730 or 8 pm. She usually sleeps until 5 am. Sometimes she'll wake for a bottle at 2am. I pretty much just go off what she wants.
  • She's down by 6:45pm, sometimes wakes at 5-6am for a feeding, otherwise will wake around 7am

  • My LO usually goes to sleep for the night around 9-10pm. I usually wake him up around 4-5am to breastfeed and then he goes back to sleep until 8-9am
  • My little one was still waking up every 4 hours until recently. He now is 15 weeks and he goes to sleep around 8-9 ( that's if we're not out of the house) otherwise around 10-11 then he wakes up only to eat around 2-3 and then goes back to sleep and doesn't wake till around 7-8am I keep the room only with a dim light so he can tell the difference between night and day. Their sleeping habits can change if they're going through a growth spurt but otherwise give it time, every baby is different and I'm sure you're not the only one going through this. Maybe he'll adjust to sleeping longer the older he gets! Good luck and hope this helps! :)
  • My little guy is 15 weeks old. We start his bedtime routine at 7 and he's usually asleep by 7:30-7:40. He wakes around 2 and 5 to eat then 7-8 for the day.
  • My LO is 13 weeks. She goes to bed around 8 or 9. It's split weekly half days she gets up at 5am and others not until 8..I don't know why some days it's super early because I don't do anything different before bed :)?
  • LO goes down around 8pm. Wakes up at 10, 12, 2, 4, 6. The only reason he goes down at 8pm is because I'm exhausted and go to bed when he does. If I wasn't so tired and he was sleeping through the night, my goal would be 10pm and then dial it back as he kept sleeping through, but I don't ever see that happening.

  • My LO is 13 weeks. She goes to bed between 830-930. Up sometime between 2-4 to eat then back to bed until 630-8 am.

DD goes down at about 10-10:30 pm every night. Once in a while she will go as late as 11:30 pm. She sleeps until 4:00 am or so, some nights she does go all the way through to 6:30 am but then she usually goes back to sleep until 8:00 am.

I would really like to get her to go to sleep earlier as well as move her from her pack and play in the living room to the pack in play in our room but I'm scared to rock the boat! I'm pretty happy with how much she is sleeping.

    ETA DD is 12 weeks

Our little guy goes down between 9:30-10 and most nights, he sleeps until 6:30-7. We're in the middle of a growth spurt I think so he's been waking up around 4 to eat the past few nights. He's 3 months as of yesterday.
  • She usually goes to sleep between 7 and 9. Wakes up around 5 or 6 am. I really just go off of what she's doing and what she wants.

My son slept from 9 pm to 5 am and would wake to feed, then go back to sleep until 7ish... until last week. Now his sleep is all jacked up. He goes down at 7:30 reluctantly, wakes at 1:30, 4ish, and 6 to eat, then wakes close to 8. I was so spoiled for the 8 weeks he slept through the night. ..

  • My LO is 14 weeks today. Gets a bottle between 8 and 8:30 and sleeps right after that. Sleeps anywhere between 6 and 8 hours, gets up and nurses and goes right back to sleep, and wakes again between 7 and 7:30 for the day (we have to get my big kids to school).

  • My little guy is a night owl. He's 14 weeks and goes to sleep around 11 and wakes up for the day at 11am. He wakes around 6am to eat sometimes more often. I'm trying to get him to sleep earlier but it's a struggle!
  • You ladies rock. I am struggling with bed time. My DD will fall asleep around 7:30 PM, but gets right back up at 9 for a feeding. I nurse her at night and sometimes she falls asleep immediately other times she needs to be rocked to sleep. Tonight she didn't fall asleep until 10 and woke up at 2 for her first feeding. I'm praying that she'll sleep until 6 now.
  • We start bedtime routine with DD around 7pm and she's usually down by 7:30/7:45pm. She sleeps until about 5:30am. I do everything I can to make sure she's full before going down even if I have to supplement with formula towards the end of the day. Someone recommended trying to put LO down 15 minutes earlier every night until you get them to a time that works for you. We try and keep the routine the same every night and I notice by the time we are on our same 3rd book she's rubbing her eyes.
  • We start our bed time routine around 8pm.. Bath-bottle-bed she's 12 weeks and has been sleeping 9 hours since 8 weeks old :) it's a blessing. Every once in a while she will wake up at 3 for a bottle then right back to bed. But she is usually down and out around 9:30. And then will wake up around 6 or 7.
  • We have no schedule, but she usually goes to sleep around 8.
  • Usually down at 8 and up at 630 with about 2 wakeup for feeding. But between the anticipated 4 month sleep regression and day light savings time right around the corner... we're fucked.

What is this sleep regression you speak of? As if my lo's sleep patterns can be made any worse......
  • 14 weeks goes to bed at 8:30 wakes 5:30-6:30
  • Almost 15 weeks. Bed is anywhere between 630-7. He wakes around 11-12 to eat and usually again around 4. Sometimes he wakes for the day at 5, sometimes at 6, sometimes at 7!! I'm jealous of those whose babies sleep all night. My LO still wants to eat!!
  • Ours goes to sleep anywhere between 930pm and 1130pm. She sleeps thru the night and wakes up for the day between 730am and 9am. We are all night owls, so this actually fits with our schedule. My DH doesn't come home from work until 930pm, so it's really the only time he gets to see spend time with her during his work week.
  • Bedtime between 6:30-7:30 then up every 2 hours the rest of the night until he wakes up at 4-4:40. I put him in bed with me then or have my DH get up with him. Hes 15 weeks.
I've read that getting babies to sleep at an early bedtime extends their waking time. Obviously my baby hates sleep and nothing works for mine .

Yes! This is us too! But I try to hold him off until 630 or so to put him in bed with me. If I hear "sleep begets sleep" one more time I'm gonna lose it! He does pretty good with naps, I put him down sleepy but awake, I feed on demand all day long, have a consistent bedtime routine, put him to bed early, etc, etc. But he still wakes up every hour or two.

Yep sounds exactly like mine. I had a couple weeks of 1-2 night time wakings at 2 months. Such a tease...
