Yes, you could try taking tums but for me that doesn't work so I just have to drink almond milk through pregnancy.

I also have to watch that I don't eat too much dairy in general and take tums after eating ice cream.
Hopefully that helps, it's common and it's actually common for babies to have different reactions to your supply when they nurse if you drink a lot of milk too, for my daughter I had to keep drinking almond milk because it made her have a little reflux if I consumed too much dairy
  • I'm lactose intolerant and during pregnancy it gets quite a bit worse. Which sucks because I am always wanting anything dairy.

I second what @wisco29 said about the tums and maybe trying almond milk or lactose free milk if it's just the milk you are having problems with.

  • Like PP, I've actually been craving more milk. Usually if I drink too much it upsets my stomach a little bit and I usually don't care for just a glass of milk but I've had a glass almost every day this past past week.

Are you drinking it too fast? I would definitely give the tums a try
  • ... Or don't drink milk if it's bothering you?

  • I use my lactose sensitivity during pregnancy to avoid constipation :)>-
Weird that I get sensitive to milk while pregnant but anyhooo it is working for me.
  • This also happens to me during pregnancy, but each one is different. My first baby it never went away. This pregnancy it went away after awhile. I just kept testing it. Yogurts are always fine for me then ice cream was good and occasionally milk.
  • I had milk sensitivity around weeks 12-18 I just limited my milk consumption .. Luckily I haven't had issues lately
  • I've had few problems with drinking milk also. My problem is that when it starts getting warm, that's when I'll end up not feeling good if I continue to drink it. So I have had to start putting ice in my milk to keep it ice cold and I'm fine with a glass or two. Then again, every drink I have, except for coffee, has to have major amounts of ice before I can drink it without problems.

As a dairy farmer, I wouldn't recommend almond milk (or any other "milk" replacement). Milk from a cow is naturally occurring and much healthier. Dairy milk has 8 times the protein of almond and rice milks – which contain a long list of ingredients, including added sugar, syrups, salt, thickeners and stabilizers. Real milk’s ingredient list is short and simple, with only ingredients you know. image

Suggesting alternatives just seemed to be a nicer reply... I could be wrong.
  • Well, I'm a partial lactose, so basically I can handle certain products and not others. Milk basically destroys me, it makes me really sick. I use lactose-free milk. It tastes better, it has all the same nutrients, and it doesn't upset your stomach. I double checked with my OB when I found out I was pregnant too, everything is safe about it. My husband is extremely lactose intolerant too, so it's nice for him as well, and his is PICKY. I tricked him by putting some in a regular milk container once to get him to drink it. He kept asking why the milk tastes better. Score 1 for me! It's animal friendly too, I mix it in my cats food sometimes. (Cats actually can't handle dairy for those of you who didn't know that)

Anyways, those are just my experiences with it. It comes in a red carton, it's a little bit more expensive but it lasts way longer and we use it much more. I think they're good for like 2 months!! It makes the SMOOTHEST chocolate milk too. Mmmmm.
  • Try drinking some lactose free milk and see if it bugs you.
  • I wouldn't be concerned about anything. It's normal to have food sensitivities when you're pregnant. I would try lactose free and see if that helps, or just take it easy with milk and get your calcium in other ways.

Milk is the only thing that helps my nausea especially when I've gone too long without eating. However, if I try to drink a soda (ginger ale, Coke, anything) I feel like I am going to die and get horribly nauseous. Solution: I don't drink soda and drink as much milk as I can get my hands on. Everybody is different. It's ok if your body doesn't like milk. Just find what it does like.
