1st Trimester

SCH, bleeding, Hcg not rising

I guess I am more here for support and positive stories. But I am extremely worried and can't bring myself to stop crying. I am so scared of losing this pregnancy. I have had different doctors tell me different things. Most recently, my OB gave me about a 50 / 50 chance of keeping the baby today. So I went into ER last Thursday with light vaginal bleeding. I was diagnosed with SCH. They said it was very small. Baby was also measuring a week behind. Had a second ultrasound Saturday, and the tech said it looked great, heartbeat was 152. I had HCG tested Thursday at 10 PM and Sunday at 1 PM. My doctor said that it was too early to say for sure, but the HCG didn't go up as much as she would like to see. I had a pelvic exam and she said cervix looked good and I have another ultrasound scheduled for Saturday but waiting is so excruciating at this point. I just started bleeding quite heavily and I am just a wreck. Anyone have any experience with this?

Re: SCH, bleeding, Hcg not rising

  • In your other post about your same situation, you said your ultrasound tech says you do not have SCH. Were you diagnosed with SCH again?

  • To answer your question, no I do not have any experience in this, but I hope it all works out well for you.
  • Thank you. I do have an SCH. My ultrasound tech said it was not an SCH, but an implantation bleed when I asked her if it was, but 2 doctors told me that is exactly what an SCH is. So the ultrasound tech had no idea what she was talking about. I will take all of the positive thoughts and prayers I can get right now, but I do not feel good about the situation. Thank you.
  • Implantation bleed is different than SCH. I've had both.
My situation didn't work out but I work ob/gyn and see it go well for others more often than not
  • Sorry you're going through this.  Do you know what your hcg numbers were?

  • It's an implantation hemorrhage (internal), 2 doctors told me it's an SCH. I am not sure of my numbers, just that my doctor told me they didn't go up as much as she would like to have seen. She said she wasn't sure what will happen and says it is about 50/50.

I'm so sorry you are going through this. None of my First Trimester bleeding ended up being positive, but spotting (not bright red flow) can be common. I wish I had better news for you and I hope your situation beats the odds. I'm pulling for you and fingers crossed.

  • Thank you. This is by far the hardest thing I have ever experienced in my life.
  • I'm going through the exact same thing right now. Bright red bleeding, low hcg level, worrying for my comparison lab to come back on Monday! ... Long wait for something so important. My ob ' s nurse want very helpful either... but I feel like I'm ok, I'm a wreck from worry, but despite the bleeding, im praying for the best results, for the both of us. Please keep me posted and I'm do the same if you reply.

  • At 11 weeks I started bleeding heavily and assumed I was miscarrying. At the ER I was told I was having a threatened miscarriage due to a sub. Hemorrhage and was given a 50/50 chance of miscarrying. After seeing my ob I was told it was very common and miscarrying was less than 5%. Baby is healthy and I only bled heavily that day. I'm now 24 weeks and 4 days. I hope the best for you.
