Since the eggs are protein and not sugar, I don't feel like that would have made that much of a difference honestly. Good luck on your three hour test!! I'll be taking my one hour test on Friday at 8am before I go into work.
I've eaten before mine every time and passed every time. I usually eat a couple eggs and a piece of whole wheat toast. I think you'd have to eat cereal, donuts, poptarts, syrup or something really high in sugar to cause yourself to fail. Also I think I'd feel really sick if I chugged that drink (you only have 5 minutes to drink the whole thing) on a totally empty stomach. Even though I like the taste, chugging it is rough, as is the sugar crash later.
I'm confused about this whole thing. My test starts in 15 minutes, I wasn't allowed to eat or drink since last night. My test is 3 blood draws, baseline, one hour after orange solution, two hours after orange solution. I know not every one does that. But if I ate donuts this morning it seems like it would mess up my baseline. Not necessarily helping me "pass" or "fail" the test, but really just throwing off my baseline. If my body wasn't able to lower my sugar levels after the solution (a real fail) you wouldn't be able to tell because my baseline would be high, just like the post solution results. I can see how donuts would make you fail the one hour, which seems like what people are getting. But donuts before a longer test seems like it just makes the test inaccurate, not help you pass or fail.
38 minutes to go! I would've been done by now, but i was half an hour late due to a traffic jam. I'm ready to eat! Lol. Hope I pass. I'm not doing any more tests.
So far I've ran into my neighbor and heard about her twin pregnancy and heard lots of gossip about the dr being late. I'm officially getting fast food after this.

I'm also doing mine friday before work. I'm so dreading it!
If you can handle orange soda then the Orange drink should be fine for you. It just gets a little difficult to finish in the short time you have. I've never been given the option of which flavor, but I would ask if you absolutely despise the flavor of orange soda.
I will say, I had to do a double prep colonoscopy early this year (no food Sunday after 6pm until 2pm Wednesday after the test) and drinking a TON of the prep solution that's at least 20x worse in taste. Plus much more terribleness. This was cake... It's only about half a water bottle size of solution.
Does anyone else have a doctor who is waiting to do the glucose test? My doctor said not until 28 weeks, EARLIEST.
I probably won't even go until next weekend when I am 28 weeks and 5 days. I've had no previous issues/glucose screenings and this will be my one hour test. I almost feel worried that they are letting it go so late. Thoughts?

Don't worry, every provider does it differently. I'm taking mine when I'll be almost 29 weeks.

I honestly didn't think it was that bad. I didn't get a choice so I was given the orange, and it really didn't taste that bad to me. No I wouldn't choose to drink it every day because of the flavor, but I expected to be gagging it down with how some women talk about it on here, lol. Fingers crossed we pass! I've been kind of worried about passing mine honestly...
My doctor just gave me the RX to get mine done this week at 26 weeks. He also said the test is designed so you do not have to fast. I am not sure when I will go but it will most likely be next week b/c this week I don't have any free time

Ugh, I did mine today and am waiting on results - 1 hour test. The drink was not terrible at all, so that's a plus...but I've felt like crap all day! I haven't been this tired and pukey since the first trimester. Why does everyone complain about the drink? The after part is much worse

The 1 hour drink wasn't bad. The 3 hour one was because I'm pretty sure it's more concentrated. Either that or it was just the flavor. I don't mind the orange. But my 3 hour one they gave me fruit punch and it was gross, tolerable but still not as good as the orange. I felt my worst about an hour after the drink. Luckily I passed my 3 hour test!
I have my test on Friday. I was told I can eat normally but I should avoid anything crazy high in sugar. I don't know how I'll go an hour without water though!! I'm going to have my drink cold and with a straw to make it easier!
Waiting to do the one hour. I got the nod to do an alternative to glucola since that makes me sick so I did 50g of sugar in an Odwalla smoothie. Just was told no food or drink in the one hour between drinking and the test.

Just drank my glucola. Surprisingly, I didn't think it was too bad. They had it nice and cold, reminded me of orange Hi-C. Now fingers crossed that I pass.

That's exactly what I thought it tasted like only a bit sweeter. I didn't mind it either. Good luck!
I just found out that I failed the 1hr! It was close. I've been suffering from a cold and the doc told me that could've elevated my levels a bit...but I still have to go back in for the 3 hr test. Bummer.
It didn't taste very bad, but I certainly feel nauseous after drinking it.
same here!! it made me so sick after drinking it, they had to bring me to a back room to lay down until they could take my blood. I personally thought that the drink was disgusting however, I'm not a fan of anything orange flavored. at least they kept it nice & cold for me.
Had my one hour test yesterday. The drink they gave me was clear and in this tiny bottle like the size of 2 of those mini water bottles. They said sit down and then bring it back for the timer. I was walking over to the chairs and opened it and tasted it and it wasn't that bad at all. ( and I was craving some sugar all morning since DH made cookies the night before) so instead of sitting down I just chugged it down and handed the bottle back. The receptionists were totally shocked. Said I drank it faster than anyone by far. Haha! Hope the results come back ok.
Had my 1 hour test yesterday and just found out I passed! I'd been worrying b/c baby has been feeling REALLY big lately (like, my belly looks the same size as my coworker who is 8 1/2 months) and I've read that a too-large baby can be one of the complications of GD, so I was bracing for bad news, but got the call this morning that all is good! They gave me the orange flavor and told me I had 2 min to drink it. I thought I would get 5 min, so I was worried, but when I started drinking it wasn't bad at all. It was cold, which really helped. Tasted like a melted orange popsicle or orange Kool-Aid. So relieved baby and I are in the clear (also, not gonna lie, really glad I can enjoy the holiday goodies!).
Sitting and waiting to get my drink on right now! This is my second time of doing the 1 hr (doc had me do this early on because my BMI is kinda high), so I'm keeping my fingers crossed it is the lemon-lime flavor again. That just tasted like flat Sprite.
