Cysts found on ovaries

I am technically not due till June 5th but due to high risk will be delivering in May.

I have PCOS and at 6w 5d they did the first us and found several cysts on my left ovary and one on the right. Unfortunately he didn't say anything other than that. I went to schedule my next and the lady tells me he wants me back in two weeks. Then she asks if I know why that it is unusual.

So basically no I don't know why and now I'm a bit worried.

Has anyone else been diagnosed with multiple cysts and what did your doc say? Was it concerning to them? Any previous pregnancies with cysts go okay?

I have multiple cysts on each from a multiple ovulation. The doctor reassured me that this is normal and they are actually to be expected for the first trimester or so as they are giving off a hormone to help sustain the pregnancy. They dissolve on their own and usually don't cause a problem. I had several during my first pregnancy and they did dissolve and didn't cause any kind of issue. This time around I'm pregnant with twins and noticed extra fullness in my abdomen from the babies and the cysts but it's gotten a lot better the closer I get to second trimester- only 10 more days!! Don't google it anymore- you'll scare yourself...your doctor should have given you more information. Good luck momma!

Corpus luteal cysts are completely normal and actually important to help maintain an early pregnancy as they produce estrogen and progesterone. As a sonographer we document them and make sure they regress properly. As for other cysts as long as they are simple cysts meaning just fluid then is nothing worrisome about those either. If the cyst is very large and complex with internal debris then we'll watch it a lot closer. Very rarely do they not regress in a few months and actually require intervention.
