Resident sonographers: question if you don't mind answering

I've booked in to have my NT scan on the 6th Nov - its with a private firm cause I'm with a MW and is over an hr drive away. (no closer places here). At that date I will be 11w 6d by LMP and 11w 4d by ovulation.

My question: at my dating scan I was measuring 7 days behind based on LMP. I know the measurements can change a lot, and I understand that if im measuring 10w 5d at the NT scan thats too early. Should I change my scan for a week later? I would really rather not because I'm going to town for other errands that day so can do the scan the same day, rather than having to make a special trip.

Thanks for reading and I appreciate your advice.

Re: Resident sonographers: question if you don't mind answering

  • I'm not an ultrasonographer, but I just had my NT scan at 10w 2d. My high risk DR said anytime between 10w and 13 weeks is perfect. I think you'll be fine!

  • I'm a sonographer and after your 1st ultrasound our doctors only go by those measurements for how far along you are. LMP is not even considered anymore. The nuchal translucency test is rapidly becoming a lost art due to the Panorama and Harmony testing. However, when we still do preform them it's always between 11 weeks and 13 weeks 6 days. I would call them and double check their rules. Some places are more laid back then others. Usually if an OB is reading the scans they'll be flexible than if a radiologist is reading the scans. That is just in my own personal experience though.

  • Thanks @autumnlynne1221 we don't have the harmony or panorama available here yet. I'll call see what they say.
