Brown Discharge at 13 Weeks

Hi Ladies,

I am currently 13 weeks. This morning when I wiped, I had some brown discharge after peeing. It isn't a lot, but enough to cover the toilet paper each time I wipe. After consulting Dr. Google, it could be nothing, but it could also be serious. I called the on call line to my hospital, but I am still waiting to hear back as they're in surgery at the moment. In the meantime, have any of you experienced this before? I had a loss in May, and that blood was pink/red from start to finish... nothing brown. I am on edge because of the previous loss, but not super concerned because it isn't red either and I haven't had any cramping. Thoughts?

I've only heard that bright red blood is something to worry about. I had some brown discharge before but that was only after sex. It went away as soon as I noticed and hasn't happened since. Brown discharge should be normal because it's old blood. Just wait to see what the hospital says.

Off topic, but if you're 13 weeks, shouldn't you be in the April 2016 board? Sorry just noticed it.

I would try to get in to a doctor right away. Like others and yourself are saying, red blood is much more threatening. Please keep us posted. If you're not having cramping and it's only brown, that's a really good sign.

@tgortney Yeah, I originally had my DD as May 1st because of typical late ovulation. It changed at my first u/s.

Keep us updated! I actually had some brown discharge earlier. I asked my group from DD and they said brown is fine. It definitely catches you off guard and I'm nervous now too...I understand your anxiety!

I went to Labor and Delivery per on call Dr. recommendation. I had a very quick ultrasound and all was well.
