2nd Trimester

Keep moving my sweet angel girl!

Let's talk about Quickening! I hit seventeen weeks today, and I feel like I felt a lot of fluttering sensations on my right side while riding in the car. Are you supposed to feel these sensations all day long? If you don't, is that ok?

Re: Keep moving my sweet angel girl!

  • At 17 weeks along, if you do feel movement, it is likely to be sporadic for weeks to come! Especially if you are a FTM, have an anterior placenta, or baby is sitting far back. Also remember your baby sleeps at least 14 hours a day at this point. For me, I felt my first movements around 17 weeks and I felt one--only one. Then a week later I felt another one...then another... and by 20 weeks I felt him every day. At 26 weeks, he is now moving TONS and it is unmistakable. That said, baby will still have quiet days now and again!

Thank you so much for that information! I just was getting worried, because I wasn't feeling her sweet little flutters as much tonight! I am so excited and I absolutely cannot wait to feel her big kicks! I really cannot wait! When I feel her fluttering, I just love it so much! What a blessing from God! It's just so amazing! I thank God for everything going great thus far and her being healthy thus far and I pray for her to be just as healthy as can be! I couldn't be more thankful!
  • I felt light sporadic flutters at around 18 weeks, but nothing regular or notable. First big kick came at 21 weeks. Now I'm 26 weeks and feel her several times a day, but it's still irregular (unless of course I drink orange juice first thing in the AM, that wakes her up!). I get nervous if I don't feel anything by early afternoon, but sure enough it always comes along soon. It's so exciting to feel, but don't worry if her sleep patterns keep you from feeling her movement too frequently or regularly. Her movement will increase over the next several weeks. I don't believe that movement becomes patterned until third tri.
  • Also just to clarify...she probably IS moving quite a bit, but you will feel it more as she gets bigger.
