episiotomy!

I am in LOVE With my new baby!

But I had a level3 episiotomy and am so swollen and uncomfortable.  I am trying to breastfeed but it is even hard to sit still while she is feeding. 

I have been using an inflatable donut to sit on, ice packs and tucks pads on top of my pads. 

Any other advice?!?!

I found a recipe for "padsciles" on Pinterest and made some for when the baby gets here. You buy the largest overnight pads you can find (mine were Always in the purple wrapper); unwrap them but keep the plastic backing intact so you can seal them back up; fill them with 2 tablespoons witch hazel, 1 tablespoon aloe vera and 1 teaspoon lavendar oil; use a spoon to spread the mixture around evenly; wrap them back up and put them in the freezer until needed. I haven't tried them yet, but there were great reviews.

I had a third degree episiotomy with my first. Tucks tucked in, sitz bath, and ice pack pads are what got me through.

Dermaplast spray is helping me with my tear/stitches

Padsicles didn't do it for me since they just felt mushy down there. Dermaplast spray has been helpful and staying on my pain meds. I am 2 weeks out so I'm starting to itch too.

Side question can you get a sits bath at the drugstore?

Yes you can get a sitz bath at drug stores, medical supply stores and online. My hospital sends us home with one.

I loved the witch hazel wipes from the drugstore with my first snip and stich.

Sitz baths really help- the heat increases blow flow to the area which helps promote healing.
Try nursing while lying on your side instead. It's a bit tricky at first but it REALLY helps

I second dermoplast spray and tucks pads. I also used Earth Mama Angel Baby Mama Bottom Balm and found the tingling sensation distracting from the pain. I only started to use it though once everything had a chance to heal a bit and was closer to the itching stage.
