Oh and also, when people spell "a lot" as one word. A LOT IS TWO WORDS! Alot is not a word!!! Ahhhh I've been wanting to say that since I became involved in the bump community.
Edited because I have chubby fingers.
Yes! And yes to the person who corrected her post because of using the wrong than/then. I know most of us struggle with words right now, but holy cow. It's worse than my 8th grade classroom.
I thought this was just a general bitching thread. Yes, I did get a horrid text message from baby's father late last night. He then called me today with some long spiraling rant/sob story saying he's sorry he was such an asshole and maybe he'll "be around" whatever the fuck that means. I was literally standing there in the quad listening to his bullshit and being like the fuck. And then according to the internet, it's possible for him to still get custody. It just really ticked me off and I wanted to rant about it for three seconds.
Sorry if I didn't go into enough detail, just wanted a bit of a moan.
I don't think this is really an UO here, but seems to be in real life. I give old wives tales for labor induction zero credibility. I just got a lecture for eating pineapple because apparently I'm guaranteeing myself a premature baby from eating pineapple once. It seems like everyone I know takes these things more seriously than any actual medical advice.
I don't believe any of them either, but when I was overdue with DS I tried them all. It was something to do since I was out of work already. I even went to a local cafe that supposed had a labor inducing cream cheese.
Oh yeah, if I were overdue I'd be all about trying them just for the fun of it. Why not? But I definitely am not going to avoid things like spicy foods or pineapple out of fear that they're gonna put me into labor haha.
Now I want pineapple. DD2 I went overdue despite eating tons of pineapple. Didn't eat it to induce labor (that would have been a bonus) I just really like pineapple. Also the eggplant doesn't work either known many that have gone to the restaurant itself and they didn't go into labor. unfortunately it's all up to the baby and they can be stubborn. Nothing against trying them for the hell of it though. Except castor oil that's just dumb.
-only disney I like on babies is mickey/minnie don't know why
-my UO is I really don't like princess Halloween costumes. I have successfully avoid them. I try and find different ones for my girls. If they begged I would. I am not mean. I actually rather see boys dressed up as Elsa because it different out of the normal. I also (except the years I was pregnant) make the costumes or revamp an old costume so no one else has the same. I love coming up with new and different things every year. I think dressing up my girls is my favorite Halloween activity.

I agree. I'm really proud of my 5 year old DD because she chose Coraline this year for Halloween. I was dreading an "Elsa" that never came.
On the subject of Disney costumes - I loooovvveee homemade costumes in general, but specifically homemade disney ones. The ones that disney mass-produces to sale are soulless and sort of ugly.

Just to clarify, no UO Thursday is more about expressing an unpopular opinion that might land someone in hot water any other day, but they feel free to post it today, with hopefullly no, or little pushback. I think you're thinking of the Tuesday and Wednesday threads, referring to twatwaffles and WTF. Wanting nothing to do with a loser asshole dad is probably a pretty popular opinion. So I suggest having nothing to do with him.

DD has been dying to be tinkerbell for Halloween this year. I couldn't stand to buy one of those costumes at the store that 100 other kids will have so I'm in the process of making hers. And it was only fitting to make DS Peter Pan, so I'm making that too

I have the desperate desire to learn to sew for this reason! Unfortunately I feel I would fail miserably at it and I really don't have anyone to teach me. It would be a very expensive skill to attempt to self teach.

When it was my youngest brothers first Halloween my mom got us all black hoodies and got fabric that looked like Dalmatian fur and hot glued it to the jackets and pants and we went as three of the puppies from 101 Dalmatians.. When they are covered in soot and the snows falling on them.. She just cut circles on the fabric and made the ears and glue it on the things and used left over fabric and sewed it to make it look like tails and the ears flopped.. Obviously we weren't wearing the clothes when she hot glued it lol I will totally have to go through old albums to find a picture of it to show you guys!!! I don't think my mom actually bought costumes until I was done with Halloween.. And that was because my brother wanted to be a power ranger and she couldn't figure that one out.. But my mom always made our costumes growing up and as we got a little older and could help it was a fun craft day!! I'm not buying costumes for my son.. I'm going to do my best to make his costumes as long as I can!!! And if I fail I will keep on trying!!!
My UO, my kids are getting all store bought costumes. I have one kid now and have no idea where I would find the time to make a costume, forget when i have 2 kids. DS has a lovely batman costume this year from party city.

I was a Dalmatian for one of the book parades that my elementary school did. I wore white sweat pants and a white sweatshirt with white gloves. My mom made felt ears and hot-glue gunned them to hair clips and put pink felt on the gloves to make paws.
I think I was Oddball from 102, so there were no spots. Holy repressed childhood memory.

I was also a Dalmatian when I was like three with white sweats painted with dots and some felt ears. And there's a picture of me in it screaming and crying because I didn't want my nose painted black, then subsequent pictures of me with a black nose.

Oh and I wanted to add my not so UO - anyone who starts a sentence with "According to the internet" has immediately lost my attention and I won't even read/listen to what follows.
It's no longer Thursday but I have no UO to share so I figure it's ok. Just caught up with this and I'm so glad that spelling and grammar were discussed! Like most people, I can usually edit as I read to make sense of a post eg. Read the word 'loose' as 'lose' if it fits the context of the sentence. However I just cannot train my brain to change 'defiantly' to 'definitely'. If you write that you are defiantly having ice cream for dinner, that is literally what I imagine you to be doing.
My (late) UO: I don't get the concept of "push presents," especially spoiled brats who demand one from their SO and are mad when it's not what they wanted. Granted, I'm not a jewelry wearer, but I don't get the concept that you get a shiny expensive prize for pushing out a baby (do c sections not count?). Isn't the baby your present? And shouldn't you be saving that money?
My push present, if you can call it that, is going to be a salami and fresh mozzarella hoagie and a case of Founder's Breakfast Stout, because I miss beer and cold hoagies.
I agree. I'm really proud of my 5 year old DD because she chose Coraline this year for Halloween. I was dreading an "Elsa" that never came.

Putting it together. Rain jacket, boots, wig, clip, have a messenger bag and a small black cat toy. She wants to have the dowsing rod as well She decided next year we are all being Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles since there are going to be four of us. (She's really excited about that one, she's a total shell head.)

............ I didn't even know what a push present was until my baby shower.. Unless it's a caramel apple I don't want it!!! Lol

I'm totally with you on this -- I don't want jewelry, I want Jimmy John's and sushi.
And to go along with all of the grammar talk, there's this...

Cheesecake for me. BF has promised as soon as the baby is out he will make me a cheesecake.
If there's something strange underneath the hood. Who you gonna call? Your Doctor. If there's something weird and it don't look good. Who you gonna call? Your Doctor. Immediately. If it's new, painful, and possibly pregnancy related get your ass off the internet and call your doctor. It's for your health and your child's.
I know my grammer and spelling are shit right now, but if I catch a mistake I will always go back and fix it. I'll also beat myself up over it. "> But some errors drive me insane! "Alot" is never a word and it's like nails on a chalk board to me!

Often times my edit button doesn't work. My autocorrect blows and I correct it more than it corrects me. There are many errors I read over in other people's posts because I assume similar situations. To an extent..

My autocorrect didn't pass kindergarten. One time I misspelled because (fat fingers) and it now wants me to use becayse all the time. I try my best to go back and fix my mistakes. I type fast and mind and fingers aren't always on the same path. I will admit I am bad about use there instead of their but I really truly try to use the right. Because typing fast I sometimes use the wrong one not because I don't know the difference. Hope you ladies will still love me. Also I will not be offended if you correct me so I can fix it. I rather learn that to look like an idiot all the time.
