Hi everyone,
I have been a follower of this board for a while now, and it has been so helpful during those tough TTC moments. I am 26 and my DH is 30. We have only been married for 9 months, but have been ttc since day one. I have always assumed it would take a while for me to get pregnant as I was dx with PCOS when I was 14. I have very "typical" PCOS symptoms: overweight, acne, irregular (extremely heavy/nonexistent) periods, hirsutism, etc. Since my dx in 2003, I have been on and off birth control to regulate my cycles and keep the acne manageable.
DH and I agreed early on in our engagement that we would start ttc immediately after our wedding knowing it could take a while. We tried on our own for 6 months before seeking out a reproductive specialist. He immediately ran tons of blood work and put me on 1000mg of Metformin, which made me feel incredibly ill. I stuck it out though and the side effects got much more bearable and now I hardly notice any symptoms despite an increase in my dose to 1700mg. My blood work showed an extremely high AMH and a very off balance LH/FSH ratio. DH had an SA and everything was completely, if not better than, normal. So off we went to focus on my uncooperative ovaries...
In August I began my first round of Clomid 100mg days 3-7. After a very disappointing ultrasound (with no follicles bigger than 10mm), he put me on a step-up dose for the following five days of 150mg. That did the trick and I had a 20 mm follicle on CD21 (better late than never). I then did a trigger shot to induce ovulation, BD, and began the TWW. BFN
In September, the Dr decided to try Femara to see if I could have some more viable follicles than I produced on Clomid. Lets just say, after the original dose and a step-up dose, femara was a bust for me. So I began two weeks of birth control to induce a period.
So, here we are in October. Back to Clomid 150mg plus Dexamethasone. I will begin this protocol in two days. Fingers tightly crossed that this will work
I have also been going to acupuncture and taking prenatal vitamins, CoQ10, Alpha Lipoic acid and NAC to try to improve my egg quality.
Whew, sorry for the length! I am so happy to finally be a member of this board and really look forward to talking with everyone
