Hashtags

I know this sounds silly but so many people do it now. Are any of yall going to make up a hashtag for your baby? For example my SIL uses #tuckertime and I've seen others like #troublewithtribble. Our baby names are pretty impossible to come up with hashtags for. Just curious if anyone has thought about it or planning to do it.

Re: Hashtags

  • I don't do it, a friend does because her son has the most expressive face so it relates to that. I don't think there's a real need for it though, a little cutesy for my taste.

  • I did it with my first, mostly so my tech savvy parents/grandparents have an easy way to see the pictures people post of her since we don't live near them. I only post a pic of her like once a month (if that), if I posted more regularly I probably wouldn't have done it. I just used her first and middle name (#firstmiddle). I'll probably do the same with my next when he/she comes, but if I have more than that, I'll probably give up on the individual hashtag game ha. I've seen friends who do things like #itsmrpeter or #ghgraham (initials and last name). It doesn't bother me too much, as long as it's only a couple hashtags #andnotlikethis #whentheykeepgoingforever #withnoendinsight #help #makeitstop #blessed

We use #conman for all pics of my son, but it isn't unique. There are a ton of other pics. :-) I would like something more creative for baby 2.

Edit:  I post these to Instagram only.

  • I do - on IG - but to be honest - I don't entirely know why. I think I thought it was cool. haha. I probably won't with this baby, but who knows.

  • Sometimes I'll see a friend's picture with their super adorable real cute baby on facebook with 50,000 hashtags and I move past without hitting the like button because the tags are so annoying to me.  Then I think, Wait--the baby is still cute!, and I go back and like it.

  • No way. I'm gonna use an app that you have to invite family to see. It's called Tiny Beans and my cousin uses it for her son cause she doent want his pictures flooding Facebook. Every time you add a group of photos it emails your family so they can see it from their email rather than getting the app.
  • I won't be doing it. I don't get the hashtags for children (or hashtags in general), especially on facebook. If other people want to do it, go for it. Again, I think I'm just really old fashioned. Why can't I just post a picture so my family can see? Why does it need a hashtag? My child won't grow up any differently if they don't have a special hashtag, right?
  • Now that I'm thinking about it, I think I'll have a #hashtag reveal party to go along with our gender reveal. #itsagirl #astonishingalexandra #blessed #pinkeverything #princesstobe

If I do, it'll be tongue in cheek/borderline sarcastic. I find it kind of annoying, TBH. Someone i know has three kids and a hashtag for each. Every post is hashtagged. "Happy Labor Day! # coolcayla #awesomeandrew #happyholly #blessed" Really? !

This. Hashtags can be funny when done right, but at a certain point, it's ridiculous.

  • I'm not going to do it. I only just started using hashtags recently anyway, and I don't use them that often. I find it a little weird...but I don't care if other people do it.

Oh, I have a cousin whose kid is always crying about something and she uses the hashtag #reasonsjohniscrying all the time. (Usually it's something like, "I offered him a cookie and now he's crying.") That's actually really funny.

That is funny. It can be funny. It's usually annoying though. #sorrynotsorry #nowicantstop #ispeakinhashtags

  • I'm not feeling it. My SIL uses an iPhone stream album to share pics of her daughter to family. I don't have an iPhone so I'll have to figure something else out. It does work well though.
I probably will post very limited pics on FB and Instagram (to my 11 followers LOL - trying to be hip, FAIL).

  • I don't use social media at all. My DH has Facebook but he rarely posts anything. We use iPhone photo stream to share photos because literally everyone in my and my DHs family has iPhones. I've never hashtagged.
