Trouble TTC

Newbie here

Hey everyone. Long time lurker here but figured I would finally tell my story this far. Before that, though, I would like to say thank you. I feel like I have learned more about what is/could/was going on with myself by being able to relate to others than I would have learned from a doctor. People here are strong and are supportive and I just want to recognize that. Thank you for all you do for me(without ever knowing).

As for me- my DH and I tried to conceive for far too long before investigating what was wrong. I've had irregular cycles from the start, so timing was always an issue. Some cycles would last a few days, others for over a month. We finally got fed up and decided to dig a little deeper to find what the issue was. After a few visits to doctors and lost of blood work I was diagnosed PCOS(no big surprise there. Cycles messed up, overweight etc) and a few polyps were found. I had a D&C and had polyps removed thinking that our next step would be chlomid to kick start ovulation. I've changed my diet and started working out here and there, and no big surprise...actually lost some weight! Amazing what happens when you move around. Ha.

Polyps came back with simple hyperplasia. I now have to do 3 months of megestrol and play the waiting game.

I understand I need to be healthy for this future someday child, but I'm starting to feel down. I try and keep my head up but some days are hard.

Thanks for reading and supporting. I appreciate any comments/questions/concerns.

  • I am glad we have been able to help you out. This board has also done wonders for me, and I am so so grateful for it and everyone on here! The waiting of this ttc journey is the worst! I feel like I am just constantly living my life waiting and it's really starting to drain me.

It definitely sounds like you are taking great steps. Sorry to hear about the polyps. What is simple hyperplasia? I hope it's not too serious and everything clears up soon for you!!

  • In easy terms it's pre-cancerous cells. I was told I'm on the low end of the spectrum, but we won't know until after the 3 months of meds to attempt to reverse I will always have to get checked for endometrial cancer because of it, and the meds are high doses of progesterone.
  • Ugh. I'm so sorry your going through this! I can't imagine how frustrating, nerve-wracking, and upsetting that must be on top of your TTC troubles. The silver lining is that at least now you can be sure to be on top of it in the future and receive treatment ASAP if needed. Good luck to you!

  • It's great that you caught them that early - hyperplasia is the earliest stage of pre-cancerous change so with simple metaplasia it basically just means that your cells divide faster than normal but the resulting cells themselves look 100% perfectly normal. They don't have any other characteristics of a cancerous cell - there's just a lot of them. It's very similar scenario to a growing a mole or skin tag - not all moles become cancerous but it's important to keep an eye on them because it's better to be safe than sorry. But realistically - cells have to undergo a LOT of changes to become cancerous - it's scary to think of any possibility of cancer but you really are at a very low risk - with simple hyperplasia you are not really at that much higher of a risk than someone without polyps. And now that they've been removed you are at an even lower risk than you started. I hope that helps with feeling down about that part.

Im sorry that you have to put ttc on hold for three months - I'm right there with you. We've had to put ttc on hold since August because I'm waiting to have a surgery to correct a defect in my uterus and it's probably going to be February or March before we can ttc again. I'm crossing my fingers it won't be any later than that.

I'm glad you found our little board - there are a lot of really great ladies here.
