2nd Trimester

Ladies with Anterior Placentas..

when did you first feel baby move?? I know there are a lot of discussions about this subject, but very few have said if they have an anterior placenta or not. i was told by my OB that because I have an anterior placenta it may take longer for me to feel baby move. I'll have to wait til he/she is bigger & stronger. I'm super anxious/excited to feel this & was wondering when abouts you ladies felt it..? I'm 18 weeks today & i dont think I've felt baby move yet, so FX it'll be soon!!

Re: Ladies with Anterior Placentas..

  • I have an anterior placenta and I started to feel something (flutters) around 22 weeks and it was only occasionally. I started to feel more regular move to at about 24 weeks. I am now able to see him from the outside. Not like huge rolling movements but thumps from where he kicks.

  • I have an anterior placenta and I started to first feel things around 18 weeks or so, but it was light and hard to discern and infrequent. I'm 22 weeks tomorrow and feel her now several times a day, pretty low down. It's still a pretty light sensation but it's unmistakeable at this point and has been for about a week. I feel her most strongly after I've eaten or had something cold and/or sugary and am sitting still. If I'm walking around I don't feel her at all. Try drinking something cold and sugary and sitting very still. You will feel the baby soon!

  • Around 17 or 18 weeks I felt the first flutters and by 20 weeks I was feeling kicks, now at 25 weeks I don't feel movement constantly but I do feel a lot of movements ranging from little nudges to massive kicks and rolls.
  • With my anterior placenta, I first felt movement around 22 weeks. It was sporadic at first, but pretty regular by 24 weeks.

  • I felt one definite kick at 18 weeks on the dot, and then nothing again until 21 weeks.  I felt occasional movement from 21-25 weeks and then at least some daily movement starting at 26 weeks.  I did not feel LO multiple times a day on a regular basis until well into the third tri...probably somewhere between 30 and 32 weeks.
  • I started feeling weird jabs around 18-19 weeks (I had to be laying quietly on my back or side). By 22 weeks there was no question what I felt was baby. I'm now 26 weeks and feel her several times a day (and night).

DS is almost two, so I'm going by memory, but the first part I know for sure (bc I was on a holiday). At 23 weeks, I couldn't feel him move, but this was the time when after he moved, I could feel him putting pressure on the new part he was pushed up against. But I couldn't feel him move into that new position - only the results from when he moved. At my cousin's wedding I was 32 weeks. I had just started feeling him move shortly before that - maybe 3-4 weeks? It was very difficult for me to do the kick test initially because I couldn't feel much.
  • I had APs with babies 1-3
    Baby#1 I felt at 18w
    Baby#2 I felt at 25w!!!
    Baby#3 I felt at 22w

  • I am in the same boat as you! 18 weeks today with anterior placenta and no movement yet. Every now and then i feel kind of like a pressure change in my belly, but certainly nothing that is obviously baby. Once last week i thought for sure i felt something but it turned out to be gas! It will happen for us soon! We just need to be patient a little longer, hard i know. Are you FTM? I am, and possibly we are missing the odd tiny flutter or passing it off as something else as we have never felt it before.
  • I have anterior placenta and didn't feel baby until almost 22 weeks. By 27 weeks I was feeling him daily and now he is crazy active (bouncing around as we speak!)

  • 20ish weeks.
  • I have an anterior placenta and I felt the first nudges that I was sure were baby at about 15 weeks. Now, I still don't feel much, just a nudge every other day or so, I wish it were more often! Whenever I do feel her move its very low down (about at my bikini line) because my placenta is higher and in front. I can't wait until she gets stronger and bigger so I can feel more of her movement. This is my second pregnancy and I'm 18 weeks along now, btw.

I first felt the baby at exactly 18 weeks and it was very low and off to one side. Now at 22 weeks I can feel her kick/move from the outside and can feel her everyday versus every couple days at 18 weeks.

ETA: this is my second pregnancy
