I need some advice **loss mentioned**

*** Possible TMI and loss mentioned***

Hoping to get some advice on here. Yes, I know there are other boards that "might be better to ask", but I feel like this is the most informative board out there and I know people on here have experienced a loss. In other words there are some really smart women on this board that know their shit, so please don't flame me for asking on here. ;)

I had a natural miscarriage on 9/7/15, I have been bleeding non stop (light and heavy) since then. Last Saturday 10/3/15 the bleeding was much worse and my doctors office's nurse said it sounded like it could be AF. I was excited to hear that because I have been waiting what feels like forever to get started TTC again.

Well this weekend my bleeding had completely died down (nothing, but random spotting) and DH and I decided to have sex Saturday. I wish I hadn't because my bleeding immediately started extremely heavy again yesterday. I haven't called my doctor yet, I was hoping maybe someone on here had some advice on what the hell could be going on. I know we are all different, but anyone experienced anything like this ? I am going crazy with all of this and I hate calling the doctor's office for every little thing. I just feel like 5 weeks of bleeding is about to make me flip my b*tch switch. :)

Thank You in advance

I don't have much advice but I'm sorry you're dealing with this is.  I know that for me personally, I have to wait at least a day or two after I completely stop AF to have sex because if not I'll bleed again for a couple more days.  Have you always been able to have sex right after AF without bleeding again?

Yes, but I also didn't bleed more than 4 days either.

If its not something that's normal for you, it might be best to call the doctor.  Its a pain in the ass but better safe than sorry.

Does the heavy bleeding fill a large pad in an hour? What is heavy to you? Your body can absolutely have bleeding like this after a miscarriage, and your doctor may tell
You its "normal" but that might not mean that it is optimal, acceptable or healthy.

In Chinese medicine we see this as a dysfunction of the systems of the body and an acupuncturist can help you stop the bleeding if it is not pathological. If the tissue from the pregnancy has cleared out, your body just may not returning to balance. Acupuncture can REALLY help you. Good luck and never be afraid to ask your doctor questions it is the future of your reproductive health on the line.

Sorry for your loss. At the OB/GYN  where I work, we will sometimes order a pelvic ultrasound for patients with prolonged, heavy  bleeding after a MC to make sure there are no retained products of conception. It is worth calling your provider to see what they think.

@AshVA absolutely it is a great idea to see a doctor which is why I mentioned if the bleeding is NOT pathological- meaning a doctor has cleared her of any medical issues of why she is bleeding. Most often they'll send you home and tell you to wait for it to stop. And also why I mentioned that we should never be afraid to ask our doctors questions or 'bug' them- we have to take care of us and sometimes that means speaking up for ourselves with our care providers. Sometimes women are afraid to do so but we shouldn't be. I have personally treated this with incredible success, getting bleeding to cease with one treatment. Best of luck ladies.

^ this. Did they check your hcg levels to make sure they're going down to 0? I think they usually do this with natural miscarriage to make sure all the tissue is passed- unless it was very early like 5-6 weeks.

I'm sorry for your loss, and this prolonged bleeding is very difficult and frustrating I'm sure.

I second PPs to call your *real* doctor to check in.

Yes 2 weeks ago, my levels had dropped from 900 to 164. They called me yesterday to see how I was doing and the nurse told me to do an at home test. If it was positive they would look into further testing. It was a BFN ! Now what ? I'm still bleeding and don't understand it at all. I am not passing anymore tissue or clots (sorry TMI). I have to call them to let them know the results, so I guess we'll see what they have to say this time.

@KMorley3 I'm so sorry for your loss. I can't imagine what you're going through, especially because the physical part of it is a constant reminder of the emotional part of it. I have no advice, just thoughts and prayers for both parts of your recovery. <3

I'm so sorry for your loss. Definitely call your doctor as soon as possible. I know many women on here who have suffered losses and I don't recall anyone who has bled for that long.

I had a natural m/c in July (at 7 weeks) and was told to expect bleeding for up to two weeks.

I am sorry for your loss. I had a miscarriage last month as well. I had a D&C and got an infection from it which prolonged the bleeding. Are you having any pain? You may want to see a doctor just to be sure.
