Trouble TTC

Intro - TTC second child - possible issues/sperm count question

Hi ladies! First of all, if this isn't the appropriate board for my intro and question, just let me know. You won't hurt my feelings. I'm still unsure where our situation leaves us in terms of having trouble TTC and want to be respectful of everyone on the board. My husband and I are TTC our second child. Our son, who is six, was conceived on the first cycle. I was 26 at the time. We're currently on the third cycle of actual intentional trying, but I have been off birth control for over a year with the "if it happens, it happens" attitude. It clearly didn't happen.

Due to my husband being diagnosed with low testosterone, his doctor put him on testosterone boosters last spring. We found out after a few months it could hurt his fertility so he stopped them immediately and saw a new doctor. The new doctor ordered a semen analysis and we just got the results back via a voicemail on Friday afternoon. We'll call tomorrow to talk through it with the doctor's office, but I'm hoping I can get some insight on how bad (or maybe not bad?) of shape we're in.  His morphology and motility were normal, but the sperm count was in the lower range.  The doc said he'd like it to be 40 million - 200 million and we're at 23 million. 20 million or below is considered low sperm count. He said our chances of conceiving naturally were "okay but not good" and that the count should improve the longer he's been off the shots. Game plan is to continue trying and redo the analysis in three months.  Of course, I was (and still am) hoping to be pregnant by then, but I know it can take up to a year in normal circumstances and our situation might very well delay things.

Does anyone have insight on conceiving with low testosterone or sperm counts in this range? I've researched it to death online and would really like to hear from real people who might be going through the same thing.

Thanks in advance!
