LO's favorite books?

Does your LO seem to have a favorite book? What books are you reading to your LOs?

Mine seems to favor The Rainbow Fish..probably because of the shiny scales. It's so fun because she gets so excited and swats and scratches at the pictures. Just curious what everyone else's reading experiences have been

My kid is into a book about bath time that is super short and each page has something that you lift up to look under it. Think it's called "Bathtime for Baby" or something like that.

He can't handle more than about 10 words per page right now, or he gets bored (eg, Hungry Caterpillar - too long). But he loves very simple books, and turning pages on anything.

He also likes Jimmy Fallon's book "Your child's first word will be Dada!"

She has story time with DS so her books are about trucks, cars, and dirt. Oh and that damn monkey....Curious George.

Yeah I will say she doesn't really sit for the whole story haha, but she does love the pictures for most of the book. We got the Dada book too, she loves that one too, but she loves anything her dad says, he's so funny to her

Oh good, here too. Here I was thinking "have ever even read a book to this baby?" But she is in my lap for her brothers' books pretty often.

3 year old gets to pick so Franklin the Turtle is our favorite but we read a huge variety of books. LO seems to like story time, even long stories. I remember his brother hating books as a baby, he loves them now. LO's favorite is definite "yes,yes, no, no" and "yummy yucky" He loves the baby in the pictures.

We love the Pout Pout Fish book :x I started reading from a huge book of traditional fairy tales (most I've never heard of) and she seems to like that as well as my husband reading her Cinderella or Curious George! I love to read Chicka Chicka Boom Boom because of the cadence, but d/h hates when I read it.

Giraffes can't dance! She loves it! Also thank you bear which is funny because they are total opposites.. Giraffes can't dance is full page pictures and bright colors and thank you bear has just words and a little picture on each page.

I forgot about "The Rainbow Fish"! Raylen has loved "Is your Mama a Lama" from the start! For bedtime reading we read "Aesops Fables" or "Grimms Fairytales".

I love lots of LO's books, however she usually manages to be a major fuss face by the end. The shorter the better! Also, by evening she's had it and can't be bothered. We have lots of the ones mentioned though! So cute.

LO loves being read to. He doesn't seem to care what book. Super excited because we got 3 vinyls today, one is Rudolph and other Christmas songs, but we got Aesops fables and nursery rhymes as well. He loves to be interacted with so I can't wait to see what he thinks of the records

Any sandra boyton book. But she listens to most any book. I am a big talker and a teacher so I know she is used to hearing me talk.

I know @mellymar (I think) is reading a series to her LO. I plan on starting a fairy tale book and maybe Harry Potter to her soon. Anyone plan on doing adult books to hear your voice & language?

Pout Pout Fish! My mom actually found a stuffed Pout Pout Fish somewhere online and ordered it, super excited to get it. I've read it to him so many times that now when he starts to stick his bottom lip out I'll say, "Don't be a pout pout fish with that pout pout face, spreading dreary wearies all over the place!" and he starts to smile.

We bought a bunch of Dr. Seuss books without realizing they are WAY too long for him right now. FTP fail.

Mine likes the jimmy Fallon Dada book too. Also one called moo that has the one word with many different inflections, any book with animal noises, and Dr. Seuss

He also LOVES watching me read novels. Maybe just seeing me turn the pages..we will lie on the floor and I'll hold the book over us and he'll get really excited cooing and kicking his legs. I've been reading so much more, its awesome!

Guess who? is awesome. There's a mirror on each page and it's about animals from different parts of the world.

I am doing an adult series. There are no pictures, but since I do it before bed I don't really want him looking at a bunch of stuff anyway and getting stimulated. I also like it because it forces me to use words I wouldn't normally use in regular language with him. I do have some kids books my sister sent but they are all in a jumble because I don't have anywhere to put them yet, so I'm not sure what is actually there.

Where is Baby's Pumpkin is a huge hit right now. He likes to play with the flaps. DH reads The Year at Maple Hill Farm all the time to him and they both love it which is funny as it's pretty dry about life on a farm. I tried to read an adult book to him but felt silly. I may need to try Harry Potter

Our favourite book to read is one that I used to love my mom and dad reading. Sawyer goes nuts when we start it.

It's called 'over in the meadow.'

Goodnight Moon is our favorite.  He also loves Giraffe's Can't Dance, and The Very Hungry Caterpillar.  There's lots of books you ladies mentioned that we don't have....Definitely compiling a list of these so I can add them to the Christmas list!

^^me too. DH birthday is next week, so I went through the list here and bought the ones we didn't have to give to him as a gift from LO since he likes reading to her.

For those making list a few of our favorites: "Hand, hand, fingers, thumb" "I'll teach my dog 100 words" "Some dogs do" "Moo" "Little Blue Truck" any Mo Willems Books, the Jamie Lee Curtis Books - Big words and I feel silly. All the George and Martha Books (classics), Franklin the Turtle Series (fabulous lessons, you can buy used lots on eBay), "The Red Sled" "Press Here", anything by Leo Lionni, or Oliver Jefferies, Bear Snores on and the other bear books, a sick day for Amos McGee, Henry Climbs a Mountain . . . My toddler books books. These are some of the frequent requests. We have a big shelf at his level and we always let him pick. Before he liked being read to he liked pulling them off the shelf and making a mess. He was not a fan of reading as a baby but eventually he started opening the books while making a mess.

I love these, but they're still too long for my LO, sadly.

We were recently gifted Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, and I got SO excited reading it to LO for the first time! Unfortunately it was at bedtime, so we won't be doing that again. But it's my new favorite, so he'd better learn to like it!

My LO loves chicka chicka boom boom and anything Dr.seuss. I've been reading 'one fish two fish red fish blue fish' to her, she loves the weird creatures.

I tried reading runny Babbit, but all the mixed up words really threw me off. I got only a couple pages into that one.

my DD loves anything Dr. Seuss. but she also loves classic fairy tales like the ugly duckling and the velveteen rabbit.

Goodnight moon every night, the little blue truck m), pour pout fish, giraffes can't Dance, how do dinosaurs clean their rooms, llama llama books, the zoo book. Those are all the ones he'll sit thru with me and not fuss.

I Love You Forever by Robert Munsch is the only book he doesn't try to eat or bang away at the pages. So I suppose he either he really loves the sound of it as I read away, or he's incredibly bored and it's putting him to sleep. Either way, I love it, so we read it often.

One of our favorite ones to read is called (I think) There's a Monster at the End of This Book...starring Grover! I used to have this book when I was little and someone gave it to us at my shower. It just cracks us up and LO always seems intrigued!

This is a fantastic idea. And a great excuse to re-read Harry Potter

@MurLindzz We have this book and I honestly can't read it without crying. I have to whisper it to her because my voice cracks the entire time.

Mine also likes giraffes can't dance, she does get a little testy over the longer books. She seems to be ok with 'put me in the zoo' every night she gets one story that we rotate and then goodnight moon.

I haven't read the Rainbow Fish book- looks like we will be picking that one up next!!

Currently our LO seems to enjoy anything that rhymes and has vibrant pictures- so really anything by Dr. Seuss, Brown Bear and Where the Sidewalk Ends is probably is favorite. He loves being read to! We just joined a book exchange, so I'm pretty excited to see what other books we get!
