Time is getting closer. And I'm scared because it's my first baby and idk if I could handle the pain and I'm just scared of the aftermath of it and during the labor pains and the hormones after it's just a lot to think about

Re: Terrified

  • Unfortunately you will feel like the pain is going to kill you luckily your body knows what to do and one way or another the baby will come out. Personally I don't do epidural the thought on a needle in my back scares me more. I went with nubain made everything much easyer to deal with.

  • The epidural made the pain go away. If you're planning to get an epidural you don't have to be too worried about the pain. At the beginning it's just like period cramps. I'm a complete baby and I didn't get my epi until i got to 6cm. It wasn't too horrible. I remember more acutely the extended pain of breastfeeding for the first few weeks than I do the labor pains.
  • By the time I got to the hospital, it was too late for an epidural, so I went natural. It's just one of those things you've got to get through. You won't feel like you can handle it, but you can.
As PP said, the labor was over pretty quick compared to the weeks of post-partum swelling and the BFing.

  • I had a spinal tap once. And so I know the epidural is going to hurt at least a little.. But my friend who had an epi said that she didn't feel any pain during the birth, just pressure.

Everybody is different but hearing her say that was reassuring.
  • I was in labor for 36 hours and I made it to the 24 hour mark with no epidural. I wouldn't have gotten it at all if I hadnt been so exhausted but my body needed a break.I was very nervous about all of it as well, but I actually enjoyed the labor and delivery experience and hope that baby #2 cooperates because I'm looking forward to experiencing it again. Recovery wasn't terrible, but it also wasn't a pleasant experience. Your body knows what to do and you will be just fine. It's all worth it in the end!

Nubian is given through an ive in your hand or arm ( mine was in my hand). It made everything bearable for me I was able to breath through contractions and focus on what my body was telling me. I had my first natural and it was hard to breath let focuse on my body. After delivery I was fine I was staving witch is normal but i spent about 4 hours with my son befor I needed sleep pm use I was able to move around more freely during labor. I wasn't numb. Which can happen with an epidural
