Hi ladies - this is my third child and I was just wondering for those moms that have had three or more, was your labor with your third any faster, easier, or possibly earlier than your first two? Thanks and hope everyone is feeling and doing well.
My first and second were both around 38 weeks on their own. My third and fourth I was induced at 39 weeks. Delivery wasn't super long, but my second was fastest (I assume bc my water broke on its own and he was just ready!).
1st born on his EDD and 6 hour labor 2nd born 1/2 hour after his EDD and 6 hour labor 3rd born day before EDD and 3 hour labor
So yes for me, I hope this one follows the pattern!
But I had a friend who just had her 4th and her first 3 were early and her last was a week late! Not sure on her labor lengths. So guess you never now.
Second and third, yes but the fourth was being stubborn trying to come out acynclitic, op, had meconium, and caused all sorts of problems. Generally, each delivery gets easier though.
In my case, yes and no. He arrived the latest of all of them (9 days late, vs 7 days late & 2 days early), and even though contractions started on their own, and my water broke spontaneously during labour, I ended up needing a vacuum-assist to get him out safely. I think I remember my midwife saying he was sunny-side up, so it was harder to push effectively. They kept trying to get me to push laying on my side, and his heart-rate went wonky every time I tried to shift position.
So it wasn't easier or earlier, but it was a bit faster compared to DD1 (about 13 hours). DD2 was about the same length as DD1 if you count my water breaking as the start of labour, but not if you go by when the contractions started (about 3.5 hours). DS was about 6 or 7 hours of labour altogether.
Thanks so much everyone. My second was so fast that my fear is that I don't make it to the hospital in time but it looks like you just never know. I guess it will all depend on this little guy and my body. Much love to you all and hopes for very easy deliveries for everyone!
My second was so fast. She was born 28 minutes after we arrived at the hospital. With my third, water broke at home at 7 am and he was born at 917 am. He was sunny side up so pushing took almost two hours. Had he not have beenn sunny side up, it would have been as quick as second delivery. Now were on number four and I'm so afraid I won't make it on time lol. Best of luck!
Re: Was your third child's labor any faster, easier, or earlier?
2nd born 1/2 hour after his EDD and 6 hour labor
3rd born day before EDD and 3 hour labor
So yes

I agree with Cook that you never know.
