Baby's sleeping position

Took my baby to the pediatrician for his 4 month appointment and vaccines.... Was told since he still has a flat head, to have him sleep on his stomach( as long as there is air movement in the room to prevent SIDS). How do I get him to lay on his stomach if he's so used to being swaddled?? Any suggestions?? We use the comfort and harmony sleep sacks when he sleeps on his back

Re: Baby's sleeping position

  • I heard there was a special pillow, you can't use that?
  • I would let him fall asleep on his back and then change his position once he's out. If you're trying to take pressure off the back of his head he doesn't necessarily have to be on his tummy - side lying is fine too. The best way is to put him to sleep on top of a blanket. Once he's out roll another blanket into a log. Gently lift the blanket under him to tilt him onto his side and then slide the log (lengthwise from head to toe) underneith. It just had to be enough to make his head turn to the side but prevent him from rolling back flat in his sleep. Hope that makes sense! Just be sure to alternate which side you tilt him on every night :)
