I had a C-section 3 years ago and it was a nightmare. Its hard to explain but I literally have needed therapy to deal with it all. I'm on pregnancy #2 and was planning to VBAC until some major complications hit. The doctors don't want to let me even try for a VBAC which is fine because obviously baby's health is way more important! But I am struggling with having to go through this again. Ever since we scheduled the C-section (at 37 weeks due to complications) I haven't been able to sleep and have been having minor anxiety attacks. I'm looking for some c-section "success" stories if you have them to help calm me down. I was super drugged after my last C-section so I can't even recall how bad the pain was or how long it took me to be "functional" again, if that makes sense. Anything positive would be helpful!
Re: Need reassurance
I was super nervous before surgery as well and I think it's normal....especially in your case....but I can vouch for the fact that every surgery and recovery are different.
Fingers crossed for a much smoother experience this time around!
I had to wait 8 hours to walk( when they removed the catheter) I could've had it done at 6, but my legs were still VERY NUMB( could be from 2 epidurals AND a spinal block, hello overkill!!) so I wanted to wait a bit longer.
I put on my own pjs shortly after I walked and then showered the next morning. I'm a giant baby and managed the pain with just ibuprofen and the ever-amazing stool softeners. You will do fantastic again I'm sure!
Edit because I hit the post button too soon lol
I had a great c section. I knew through out my pregnancy there was a chance I could have one. Lol.. I was so prepared for a c section, I was very nervous about giving birth vaginally. I was induced, due to a pre existing medical condition. I labored for 12-12.5 hours. I also had my epidural withing 1-2 hours of my induction. I was nice and relaxed all day. When my doctor checked on my just after 7pm, he said I have been in labor long enough, and it's time to go ahead and do the c section. I felt a lot of relief. I didn't feel anything! No pushing, pulling, tugging, etc when my daughter was born. I was up walking around and even showered on my own the next morning.
